Chapter 664: Chapter 664: Two People Listening by the Corner
Dan Hanjie just looked at her without speaking.
It wasn’t until several seconds later that Qin Youxuan followed his pointing finger to look out the window and realised they were not driving towards the private villa, but to the hospital instead.
“You got so worked up just because I mentioned Jiang Jinchen, huh?”
The air in the car was heavy with jealousy. If Qin Youxuan couldn’t smell this, she would be a fool.
All she could do was chuckle nervously, turning away to hide her face.
As soon as the car stopped outside the hospital, Qin Youxuan quickly pushed the door and got out first.
By the time they reached the ward, there was utter chaos inside.
“I told you, I’m fine. Look at me, in one piece, still a tough guy,” Jiang Jinchen’s flippant voice rang out from the hospital room.
Dan Hanjie immediately held back Qin Youxuan who was about to knock on the door.
He signalled with his eyes for her to wait.
The next second, Qin Youxuan was pulled back by him. They both stood at the door, eavesdropping openly.
“So, you hoped to break your legs before you’d admit something was wrong? Jiang Jinchen, have you lost your mind? Didn’t you hear what the doctor said? You suffered a thigh bruise, soft tissue contusion, and you still want to attend parties?” Ning Yanan’s angry voice carried a hint of sobbing.
Jiang Jinchen immediately backed down, “There, there, isn’t it a good thing we’re back at the hospital now? Why are you crying?”
Upon hearing Ning Yanan’s sobs, Qin Youxuan couldn’t stay still.
She reached for the door, only to have her hand restrained by Dan Hanjie, “It’s not you whom she needs right now.”
Caught off-guard, Qin Youxuan froze. Before she could react, Jiang Jinchen spoke again, “I’m the jerk. I shouldn’t have argued with you. If I’d yielded a bit, we wouldn’t be in such mess. If you’re upset, why don’t you hit me a few times? I promise I won’t fight back…”
Listening to the intermittent voices from inside the sickroom, Qin Youxuan guessed what had happened.
It looked like the two had argued on the way to the banquet. Angered, Ning Yanan had gotten out of the car to find a taxi.
Jiang Jinchen, of course, wouldn’t let her go alone. That led to a struggle between them on the roadside.
Jiang Jinchen was shoved by Ning Yanan, falling directly on his bruised leg. He lost his balance and nearly got hit by an oncoming car.
What a pair of scatterbrains, playfully putting their lives in danger on the road.
Hearing Jiang Jinchen blaming everything on himself, Qin Youxuan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Looking at him in this state, she couldn’t bear it, let alone Ning Yanan, who was naturally stubborn but soft-hearted.
It didn’t take long before Ning Yanan’s voice was heard again, “With all these injuries on you, where am I supposed to hit you?”
She really wanted to hit him?
Jiang Jinchen had played himself. Now was not the right time to back out.
“Sorry for barging in at a wrong time. It seems we’ve interrupted your sweet moments.” Qin Youxuan pushed the door open and strolled in, making fun of them as soon as she spoke.
“…Who’s having any sweet moments with him?” Ning Yanan looked at Qin Youxuan and Dan Hanjie, suddenly standing up and quickly distancing herself from Jiang Jinchen.
This blatant attempt to disassociate herself made Jiang Jinchen frown immediately.
However, with Qin Youxuan and Dan Hanjie appearing at just the right time, he was saved from a beating. He controlled his irritation and asked, “Has the banquet ended?”
“It hasn’t yet. But due to a slight setback, we left early to check on you guys. We raced over here as fast as we could.” Qin Youxuan glossed over the matter, being careful not to mention anything about Ye Mingmei.
If Ning Yanan found out about it, she would worry for her as well.
“But don’t worry; we brought the banquet’s surveillance footage. Feel free to clip any photos you want.”
