It had been a while since her last visit, and Da Bai had grown bigger, its white fur appearing brighter than ever.
It lay flat on the ground, looking like a beautifully spread carpet.
The large wolf head, with a tinge of slyness and glowing eyes, was innocently staring at the toppled Qin Youxuan, occasionally letting out a howl.
The butler hurriedly ran from a distance, holding tissue papers in his hand. He helped Qin Youxuan off the ground,
And wiped off the drool on her face.
“I am fine.” Qin Youxuan took the tissues and cleaned her face before she looked towards Da Bai.
Da Bai immediately stood up to please her, its fluffy body rubbed against her side, shaking its large tail vigorously.
“I missed you so much!”
Qin Youxuan hugged its wolf head and gave it a big kiss, “Butler, bring the delicious food out.”
As if it understood Qin Youxuan’s words, Da Bai excitedly pounced on her, knocking her to the ground again. She roared in frustration, “Another lick on my face and you’ll go hungry!”
Da Bai immediately jumped off her and sat obediently.
Pitifully wagging its tail.
Was what she adopted a wolf or a dog? It had no dignity at all.
Qin Youxuan propped her chin with both hands, squatting in the corridor. She could not help smiling while watching Da Bai eat meat in the yard.
With Da Bai here, it truly felt like home.
“What are you looking at you silly girl? Afraid of getting your skin peeled off if your man knows? ” Ning Yanan had seen her smiling foolishly when she arrived and she couldn’t help teasing her.
“Isn’t Jiang Jinchen with you?” Qin Youxuan snapped back to reality and quickly got up from the ground, taking Ning Yanan’s hand and led her inside the house.
Seeing the suitcase in her hand, she paused.
“Jiang Jinchen was called back to the country by the Jiang family. As my work here is not yet completed, so I came to you.” Ning Yanan released the suitcase and threw herself onto Qin Youxuan, “Xuan, you will take me in, won’t you?”
“I couldn’t have asked for more.” Qin Youxuan immediately instructed the housekeeper to carry Ning Yanan’s luggage to the guest room.
She then pulled her to sit on the living room sofa, massaging her numb knees and asked curiously, “What happened to the Jiang family? Why did Jiang Jinchen leave so suddenly?”
Ning Yanan put down her shoulder bag, and hearing Qin Youxuan’s words, a bitter smile spilled from the corners of her mouth, “What else could it be? They probably found out that he came to America because of me.”
Ning Yanan’s eyes darkened as she hugged her bag like a pillow, her gaze lowered, “I knew from the very beginning, the Jiang family would not approve of Jiang Jinchen’s reckless actions.”
And there were too many complications between them, not just their family backgrounds. Better to end things now than to embrace pain later, eroding even the last bit of happiness they had.
Qin Youxuan frowned, unsure of how to comfort her.
“Are you staying because…”
“I didn’t stay to avoid him. The newspaper assigned a new interview task, and since I was in America, I took it. I think I’ll be staying here for quite some time.”
Ning Yanan responded hurriedly, in a way that suggested she was purposely avoiding something.
“You don’t have to persuade me. I know what I’m doing.” Ning Yanan cut her off, her gaze calm, “It’s better this way. No one has to feel embarrassed.”
” Xuan, I’m tired. Can I rest my head on your shoulder?” As Ning Yanan spoke, her head was already on Qin Youxuan’s shoulder.
After a while, her eyes started to water.
She abruptly stood up from the sofa, “I’ll go to my room and sleep.”
