"Hey, where should we find that thing?" the voice of a woman traveled from the door.
Ye Jiao was still hiding under the bed’s curtain as she watched expressionlessly. This was not the first time she had to hide when there were some enemies close to her, though she couldn’t say that she liked the experience.
"It’s on the table," The second woman replied with her clear voice.
"Oh."
The two of them moved slowly. Probably because they thought that there was no one there who would watch them, so they didn’t really care that their work’s speed dropped. Under the bed, Ye Jiao thought about the items on Chen Tian’s table. There were only some papers and tools that she didn’t know the use for.
"Is this all?"
"I think so. His Majesty just needs the tools because he wants to write an edict, right?"
"Yeah," The second woman sighed. It was clear that she sounded tired. "In any case, we need to make sure that he won��t ask us to return back again. Walking back and forth can be tiring."
The first woman laughed. "Just treat it as practice. Come on, he’s waiting."
"Yes."
The two women scurried away. Under the bed, Ye Jiao waited for a moment before she slipped out from under the bed’s curtains. Her eyes showed a ruthless glint for a moment because she could guess that Chen Tian wanted to make edict about Lu Wan.
Probably, he wanted to claim that Lu Wan was already under him and so on.
’He’s so hateful.’
Pushing the thoughts to the back, Ye Jiao scurried to the side and focused her attention to the box that she held in her hand.
Ye Jiao utilized her Eon Energy out of her fingertip into the lock’s hole. Using her Eon Energy, she investigated the size of the lock and put the metals into the place as if there was a key inserted. By manipulating the movements of the energy, Ye Jiao opened the lid of the box effortlessly. This was one of the methods she learned during a mission because sometimes, she needed to open locked doors or others.
It seemed that an assassin’s profession was truly useful.
"Bottle and letter?"
She had expected that Chen Tian must have kept the antidote for the poison. As she looked at the label, she knew that she was correct. However, she didn’t expect this man to keep some letters in this box too.
’What is this?"
Ye Jiao pulled one of the letters out. She could see some neat handwriting inside as she started to read the content. In the middle of reading, her eyes widened in disbelief.
"Chen Tian... I’ll kill you," she muttered with gritted teeth.

Murderous intent flashed inside Ye Jiao’s eyes as she could see that the Su Family had been giving a lot of things and the Chen Family along with the Wei Family worked together to make her family’s life miserable. From the list of items at the bottom of the letter, she knew that the Su Family hated her mother very much.
She had known that Wei Shang wanted her mother because he fancied her, but she didn’t expect Su Lian to be this ruthless too. Ye Jiao took the other letters, reading some of them as her blood began to boil in anger.

Aside from some jumbled and incomplete information, the rest of the letter all contained methods that they proposed to make her mother’s life worse.

Ye Jiao slammed the letter back into the box. Her eyes gleamed with hatred as she took out a small bottle and poured a bit of the antidote inside. Her hands were shaking out of anger.
"Calm down, Ye Jiao... getting angry won’t do you any good," Ye Jiao calmed herself down by muttering under her breath. Her eyes were still gleaming in anger, but her hands slowly stopped shaking.
Ye Jiao slowly put the bottle inside the box and used her Eon Energy to lock it back again. There were still a lot of letters inside, but she doubted that she would be able to contain her anger if she read them. Just one was already more than enough to make her angry.
’Also, who’re ’they’ that the letter mentioned?’
The letter said that ’they’ have been impatient with the Wei Family. She could guess the reason, but she chose not to think in that direction too much. From that one word, she knew that there was someone else who wished for the downfall of her family.
As she thought about that, Ye Jiao’s eyes flashed in ruthlessness.
She knew.
Her life would never be in peace if those people tried to chase after her again, whether it was because of her mother or father.
While she was contemplating, Ye Jiao suddenly heard the sound of rustling from outside. She swiftly moved to the door and used her Eon Energy to probe around. Sensing the rapid movements of the guards, she smirked.
’Senior Brother Qi Huan had started to move. I better hurry.’
As soon as she no longer sensed anything moving in close range, Ye Jiao opened the door and darted out of the quarter.
