Abyss Draconis Chapter 629

Chapter 629: Been A Long Time

For one, even though where he was previously sitting had been blown to ashes—along with the tables, chairs, and a large chunk of the wall—one thing felt quite out of that world: the books on the tables, including the one he was reading.

All of them were untouched and gently landed onto the ashy grounds.

But MadWhite turned back as he looked at the gun which the figure was holding, and for the first time, his unbothered gaze lost its composure.

Ryuk watched as the man slowly rose upright from his crushed position, turning his face to the side, and he asked:

“Hey, tell me something…” he whispered, as silence covered the half-destroyed library, before the question rang out:

“How did you lay hands on those guns?” he asked.

Ryuk turned to look at the guns in his hand, a second gun appearing in his left palm, and he replied:

“Oh, this?””I took it from a truly tough guy. Cool, no?” he asked, with wicked amusement.

His eyes gleamed sharply as he watched MadWhite mysteriously vanish from where he stood. Ryuk slowly turned his head up to the ceiling—

And there he was, the nozzles of two pistols stretched downward, three meters above the top of Ryuk’s head, and—

The air was ripped into nothing as two golden bullets blasted down from above, another horrific shockwave spreading outward in a circular format.

Space cracked into nothing like glass before the golden bullets, spreading faster and faster downward, but MadWhite watched as two hands raised with almost inhumane speed and—

Two bullets shot out with equal speed, bringing along the sound of howling, slamming into the approaching bullets.

A powerful shockwave burst out from the collision, but—

The air was sliced into nothing as Ryuk watched an arcing flash speed toward him, yet—

His lips parted, and—

The sound of metal colliding rang out before—

The sound of shattering rang out as his teeth bit down on the blade-like object, reducing it to metallic fragments. Turning forward, he was faced with a new sight.

About a dozen more pitch-black shuriken flashed toward Ryuk, who took a single step backward, faintly hovering 20 centimeters from the ground and—

The air shook heavily as Ryuk’s body turned into six in an instant, each moving out of the path of the shuriken.

He landed back onto the ground with a single step, all six images coming to solidify into one, but—

The sound of beeping rang out behind him. He turned to the sight of the shuriken embedded in the walls, blinking with red light, and—

They exploded. The shockwave threw him off his feet as he was blown forward erratically.

But his gaze sharpened, and he turned his head forward to face the magnifying hand that gripped at his neck—

The entire floor where they both stood caved in as a hand smashed Ryuk into the ground, the entire ground enveloped with cracks. A split second later, it gave way. He helplessly smashed downward for three more floors before finally crashing into the fourth floor, which finally bore his weight.

But he was given no time to rest.

In an instant, his head moved to the side—

A bullet hole tore through the afterimage of Ryuk’s head a moment later.

Ryuk turned his gaze upward to find the nozzles of two guns facing directly into both of his eyes, perfectly predicting where his head would be, and—

The air was ripped apart once more as the two bullets blasted into his eyes—or tried to—as MadWhite smashed into the empty ground. A moment later, before him were two large craters where his bullets lay, but in the next instant, he was gone—

Two howling bullets blasted at where he was, but he weaved through them with speed, rapidly approaching Ryuk, who grinned mockingly as he raised his guns toward him—

The sound of howling kept ringing through the chaos.

Ryuk watched MadWhite flash forward toward him without pause, weaving through the raining bullets. The howling shockwaves blew his tops to ashes, but he continued regardless as his gun began brimming with powerful golden light.

MadWhite arrived a meter before Ryuk—

The sound of a bullet blasting forward rang out as a howling eye-blaster roared toward MadWhite’s head. He dodged to the side, but couldn’t escape the gun blasting through his shoulder, instantly leaving a hole in its path.

MadWhite’s gun, flaring with an incredible golden aura, stood right before Ryuk, mere inches from both the opposite sides of his chest, right and left, and—

The air was ripped into nothing as Ryuk instinctively moved his legs, trying to move away. But then he felt the bizarre sensation—the sensation of his legs having been glued to the ground.

‘A Law that prevents dodging,’ he thought, as he watched the bullets slowly moving toward his head.

In an instant, it all halted in the air… and it wasn’t the only thing that froze.

Everything in the room paused.

The approaching bullets—four in number—resulting from two coming out of each gun nozzle.

MadWhite himself, seemingly stuck in space.

Ryuk’s legs, once tethered to the ground, easily stepped to the left, automatically moving out of the path of the crawling bullets. He continued his walk toward the paused MadWhite, who kept looking forward, appearing frozen in place.

His hand moved toward the hole in MadWhite’s shoulder. A golden-blue energy appeared on his palms, infiltrating the wounds. He watched the skin begin to piece together and regrow under his touch.

Once they were healed back to normal, he walked back to the path of the bullets, and—

An explosion rocked the entire room as a figure was thrown off his feet and blasted through the wall.

MadWhite’s cold stare traced from the explosion to his shoulder. He took a step forward, but halted as he looked again.

‘It… it healed so fast!?’

‘No… no, that wasn’t me.’

He thought to himself, but then felt a shudder in the air from the explosion. A figure slowly stepped out.

His entire shirt had been burned off.

MadWhite inhaled silently as he looked at the chest and noticed—

Not even the slightest scar was present. Just empty, ashy, dark remnants of smoke.

It was all that remained from his most powerful shot—one that had once even scared off an Eternal.

“…Been a long time, Kiddo.”

“A really long time…”
