Abyss Draconis Chapter 630

Chapter 630: Catching Up With MadWhite

“Finally realized it, eh?” Ryuk muttered as MadWhite noticed even his voice changed, and watched his face suddenly ripple—and a new one came into being.

It wasn’t the face he remembered, but it was definitely the face he had seen in the news that went by Ryuk’s name.

The image with those two long horns emerging from the sides of his head.

“Familiar now?” Ryuk asked with a smile, as MadWhite’s pistols faded away before he gave him a deep hug, slapping his back twice as well.

“You’ve grown stronger than the footage I saw of you.”

“I was hoping to see you at the Commemoration party, but you never appeared—and your device numbers weren’t going through.”

“But it seems like I was worried for nothing,” MadWhite said, firmly nodding.

“I’m doing very well. I’m glad to see you okay, too.”

“Come, come. Be my guest and drink with me till the end of time,” MadWhite said with one of those boisterous laughs before he dragged Ryuk out of the collapsed room, his arm slung over his shoulder.

“Don’t tell me you put one of those things in my drink again…” Ryuk said, as the glass hovered a few inches from his lips.

MadWhite rotated the cup between his fingers, creating a mini-whirlpool in the glass cup.

“Put what in your drink? It’s just a little bit of alcohol. It won’t kill you…” he said with a grin, but watched as Ryuk placed the cup back down.

His gaze scanned through the dozens of bottles before him, and he finally picked one.

He popped open the cap and poured it into his glass before drinking, a satisfied expression on his face.

“What’s with you and alcohol, Kiddo?” MadWhite asked with a raised eyebrow and a disappointed expression.

“I know you just love to see me drunk and helpless on the floor. I won’t fall for that this time,” Ryuk replied as he looked at MadWhite, who clicked his tongue and continued to drink.

“I heard eventually we were asked out of the war. All the human soldiers…” Ryuk said, and MadWhite nodded.

“As much as I hated that, it was true. As the invasion numbers grew, we were becoming more and more like cannon fodder. Eventually, we stepped off to the sidelines.”

“It was for the best, though. Many lives were saved by that decision, so I’m not angry about it anymore,” he replied, and Ryuk nodded.

“I still remember asking you to remain in hiding for a while, but for an entire year?!” he asked in disbelief as Ryuk chuckled and quickly gave him a summary.

“Oh, that makes more sense. So your ass was stuck, huh?” he teased as Ryuk rolled his eyes.

“You’ve gone through hell, kid,” MadWhite muttered.

Ryuk shrugged. “The flames never reached me.”

“With all the races leaving for their portals, I keep getting the question of whether humans will miss the other races…” Ryuk said, and he laughed out after when he saw MadWhite’s face instantly lose all of its colours.

“Miss them!? In their fucking dreams!”

“Tch. To think they even dared to dream that! Fucking bastards!” he said with a click of his tongue, taking a cup of his drink as if it would quench his anger.

“Well, to be fair though, their mission here on Endearth was always for this day—to help humans against the Knulls. So…”

“Yes,” MadWhite cut in.

“But that’s not enough for us to feel indebted to them. It’s just enough to make us bury the hatchets of the Dark Era.”

“Not enough to miss them going,” he said, and Ryuk nodded.

“And now that you’re reading books about the previous Endearth structures, I’m guessing you’re already planning some big changes to renovate the entire Endearth?” he asked.

All the books Ryuk had seen earlier that MadWhite was reading were history books—accounts of how everything used to be in the past Endearth.

If MadWhite was reading that, it was clear what his plan was.

“Yes, I am. Not only me, of course. The entire human leadership. The first thing we plan on doing is changing the name. It shall no longer be Endearth… but Earth.”

“We’ll begin working on rebuilding the entire Earthly structure. It will take time, but… for now, that’s all we’ve got,” he said as Ryuk watched him inhale deeply.

It was a breath of relief.

The first he had seen from MadWhite in a long time—maybe the first ever.

It was a change Ryuk loved to see.

“What about you, Ryuk? You staying?” he asked, and Ryuk paused a bit, but it didn’t last long before the voice rang out, interrupting his new train of thought.

“Don’t think too much about it, we all got our secrets and our reasons for them,” he said, and Ryuk exhaled before replying.

“I’ll be leaving Earth. I don’t really belong here.”

“Bullshit. You belong here more than any human ever will,” he cut Ryuk off.

“If I get in a pinch, you can at least rest assured about where I’ll be coming to hide away…” Ryuk replied, and MadWhite grinned.

“And we’ll be waiting. You sure you know where you’re going though? If you don’t, better take this…” he said, stretching his hand out to Ryuk.

It was a cube-like box, small and fitting in Ryuk’s palm.

It slid on the table as Ryuk caught it.

He raised it in his hands, feeling its lightweight structure, but his attention was drawn to the little button at the center.

He pressed it, and a holograph bloomed into the air before him.

It was a solar system.

Endearth, marked in flaming, with many other planets around.

Ryuk could sense around 45 others far from Endearth, flaming with different colours.

“That’s the outer map of Space around Endearth.”

“It doesn’t cover everything, of course, but at least, if your jet crashes, you can find a world with the nearest life aura around, and get to fix things with either your negotiation skills. And if that fails you, well, you always got something better…” MadWhite said with an evil grin, drawing Ryuk’s attention.
