"Chloe, why aren’t you eating?"
Isabella Gray looked at Chloe Grant staring blankly at the food in front of her, feeling a bit puzzled.
When Chloe Grant looked up, she found that everyone at the table was looking at her.
She blinked, then blinked some more.
"What’s going on here? You usually eat quietly without saying a word, but today you’re daydreaming. Are you sick?"
Just as Isabella was about to reach out to touch Chloe Grant’s forehead, Chloe had a sudden idea—
Chloe Grant covered her mouth, pretending to feel nauseous, hurriedly stood up, and ran out of the dining room towards the bathroom.
"Chloe? What’s wrong?"
Isabella anxiously asked.
Matthew Morgan had already put down his napkin, "I’m finished, I’ll go check on her."
He acted calmly, as if he was really just going to take a look, like he said.
But when he left the dining room and headed towards the bathroom where Chloe Grant was, his expression turned very serious.
Chloe Grant stood by the sink, pretending to be vomiting intensely.
Hearing someone approaching, she quickly turned on the water to cover up the fact that she hadn’t actually thrown up anything.
Chloe Grant felt helpless inside; how was she supposed to lose weight easily?
She even had to pretend to be sick in front of the whole family!
Someone next to her handed her a tissue.
Chloe Grant reached out to take it and unexpectedly noticed a scar on the back of his hand!
Suddenly, Chloe’s heart began to race.
When Chloe took the tissue, she looked up expectantly, but when she faced Matthew Morgan’s indescribably handsome face, her heart sank.
She cursed herself silently, she shouldn’t have gotten her hopes up here.
Chloe laughed to cover her embarrassment, "Uncle Morgan, how did you get that scar on the back of your hand? It’s so strange."
She just wanted to change the subject.
"Why did you throw up?"
Matthew Morgan was also changing the subject.
"Maybe I had too many sweets yesterday; my stomach can’t handle it today." Chloe Grant tossed the tissue away, rubbed her stomach, and pretended to be very uncomfortable.
Matthew Morgan squinted; didn’t anyone tell her that her acting was really unconvincing?
What is this girl up to?
"Hehe, I might just need to eat a little porridge."
Chloe Grant glanced at Matthew Morgan, laughed awkwardly, and quickly walked out.
She was extremely nervous inside.
Uncle Morgan is the hardest person to fool in the world!
When she returned to the table, Isabella Gray asked concernedly, "Sweetie, what’s wrong with you?"
Chloe Grant looked up, glanced around at the people at the table, all looking at her with questioning eyes.
When her gaze fell on Lucas, he was looking at her the whole time, with his eyebrows furrowed, looking very serious.
Chloe Grant quickly shifted her gaze away and hurriedly said the prepared explanation, "Maybe I overate with my dorm mates yesterday, hot pot and cake, so my stomach is a bit upset now."
"Your stomach isn’t good; don’t eat recklessly and make yourself uncomfortable, alright?" Isabella Gray’s voice was chiding, but her eyes were full of worry.
"Ronnie, bring some stomach medicine for Miss Chloe."
"Grandma, there’s no need..."
Chloe Grant and Lucas’s voices almost rang out at the same time.
At that moment, everyone looked at Lucas in confusion, including Chloe Grant herself.
"Medicine can be harmful. Just have some light porridge." Lucas answered simply, and looked at Chloe Grant once more.
That look... was not particularly reassuring!
