Chloe Grant and Lucas Morgan didn’t bicker like they used to today.
Even if they exchanged a few teasing remarks, it was only a few, and the atmosphere between them was evidently awkward.

The voice on the phone was male, clearly her father, Mr. Grant.

So, the reason her father called was because of Lily Grant.
Chloe Grant didn’t respond, and Mr. Grant continued, "Your uncle has basically told me everything. Chloe, what exactly do you think you’re doing? Yes, you’re living well with the Morgan family now, but you can’t forget how you refused to go abroad to live with your uncle’s family—have you forgotten how well they treated you?
How can you be so ungrateful!"
Mr. Grant began reprimanding her over the phone, his tone clearly seething with anger.
Chloe Grant didn’t respond, her eyes reddening significantly.
She didn’t want to respond!
He was her dad, but he was siding with someone else.
Something happened, and he didn’t even bother to listen to her explanation.
"You had a meal that cost someone ten thousand dollars. Your sister is just a student; how long did it take her to save that? They may have wanted to cheer you up because they saw you were upset, but you can’t be so excessive, spending all their savings on one meal."
That wasn’t her savings; that was charged to a credit card using Chloe Grant’s money.
Chloe Grant still didn’t speak, pressing her lips firmly together.
Her father continued to lecture, accusing Chloe Grant of being heartless, forgetting the past care from Lily Grant’s family, and now that the Morgan family was backing her, she was looking down on people.
Chloe Grant originally wanted to endure it, but the tears couldn’t be controlled.
She felt as wronged as a 250-pound fat person.
