Chapter 289: Who is Lying
Principal Nian felt pleased: "Not bad, all above eighty points. It seems that Wu Jiangsheng’s participation in the study group was very effective."
Principal Nian turned to Wu Jiangsheng: "Wu Jiangsheng, are you sure you completed and handed in your math exam?"
Wu Jiangsheng confirmed assuredly: "I am sure I did. After I received the math exam, I quickly skimmed through the entire paper and found that I could do sixty percent of it, twenty percent was between being able to do and not being able to do, and twenty percent I mostly couldn’t do.
I first completed the sixty percent that I could do, then worked on the twenty percent that was in-between, and finally, I studied and guessed the remaining twenty percent that I couldn’t do. With five minutes left, I handed in my paper.
When Mr. Chai received my exam, he even took a special look at my paper, saw that I had finished everything, and gave me a strange glance, probably surprised that I had actually finished the exam.
But Mr. Chai actually says he never received my paper!"
At this point, Wu Jiangsheng felt a surge of anger.
"Did you write your name on the paper?" Principal Nian asked.
"I did. The first thing I did upon receiving the paper was to write down my name."
After asking Wu Jiangsheng, Principal Nian then said to Mr. Chai: "Come to the office with me."
Mr. Chai’s heart sank. Did the principal know something?
Just as he was about to follow the principal, a voice called out: "Principal Nian, Mr. Chai, if it’s about Wu Jiangsheng’s scores, I think it’s better to discuss it here. I even have a bet with him."
The speaker was Jiang Huaiyu.
Principal Nian’s gaze flickered almost imperceptibly: "Jiang Huaiyu, gambling is banned in school. Your bet is void!"
"But, just now Wu Jiangsheng accused me of stealing his exam paper. I think it’s better to clarify things here, to find out who is really lying, otherwise, wouldn’t I be wrongly accused of stealing a classmate’s exam paper? Mr. Chai, don’t you agree?"
Mr. Chai, called out by Jiang Huaiyu, quickly nodded: "Right, let’s clarify the matter here."
Principal Nian initially wanted to give Mr. Chai some face, but it turned out the latter did not want it.
He glared fiercely at Mr. Chai and looked towards Shen Qi: "What do you think?"
Shen Qi nodded: "Principal Nian, he doesn’t want your favor."
The classmates all found it strange that Principal Nian was listening to Shen Qi.
"Since you all request it, well then, let’s ask here." Principal Nian sighed and asked Mr. Chai: "Can you confirm that you have never received Wu Jiangsheng’s math exam?"
Mr. Chai confirmed confidently: "I am certain, I have never received Wu Jiangsheng’s exam."
"You are lying, you clearly collected my paper!" Wu Jiangshan retorted.
Shen Qi shook his head and gently patted Wu Jiangsheng’s hand, signaling him to remain calm.
His behavior surprised the classmates, as Shen Qi and Wu Jiangshan were always arch-enemies.
Why would Shen Qi vouch for Wu Jiangshan and even pat his hand? When did they become so close?
"I can prove that Wu Jiangsheng indeed submitted his math exam," Shen Qi said, pulling out a timestamped photo.
Principal Nian took the photo and directly handed it to Mr. Chai. Clearly, he had already seen the photo.
