And when the storm calmed and daylight broke.
Pi clung tightly to a pole on the lifeboat and climbed into the cabin.
A orangutan floated aboard on a bunch of bananas in the distance.
This orangutan was also an inhabitant of the zoo, named Orange Juice.
A hyena leaped out, aiming to attack Pi.
It turned out that in the midst of the shipwreck, not only the zebra but also this hyena had made it aboard, and of course, the tiger that had hidden in the cramped boat cabin as well.
Things just got lively.
This tiny lifeboat was now occupied by various creatures.
They were the zebra, which had broken its leg upon crashing into the boat, the orangutan that had floated aboard on bananas, the hyena that had come aboard at some unknown point, and the tiger that had retreated into the cabin upon boarding, and of course, the protagonist of the movie!
The hyena bared its teeth and snarled.
The zebra lay immobile.
Sorrow filled the orangutan's face.
Pi was hiding at the bow of the boat.
The tiger lurked in the shadows.
On the cramped lifeboat, several different animals coexisted, along with a helpless human hiding at the bow. Adrift on the boundless sea, what kind of story would unfold between them?
Pi was recounting the past events.
The writer's expressions changed, clearly captivated by the story.
Meanwhile, in front of the screen.
The audience gradually ceased their complaints, their gazes locked onto the giant screen.
This tense and thrilling tale of shipwreck had almost made the audience forget the dreary thirty-minute lead-up. When the disaster struck, even their seats seemed to rock slightly, as if they too had just experienced a shipwreck!

Jiang Zhu glanced around, then spoke up.
Not just the regular viewers, but her, a screenwriter, was drawn in by this astounding brainchild. Who wouldn't be curious about what story might unfold on such an oddly assembled lifeboat?
It should be noted...
Land creatures at sea was already against logic, only a shipwreck that set all onboard animals loose could result in such an eerie and miraculous scene.
And it was entirely a screenwriter's wild imagination!
Nevertheless, Jiang Zhu and An Xu still couldn't make sense of why the first thirty minutes of the movie were such an extensive setup.
No matter how they looked at it, those thirty minutes were boring.
Compared to the current scenario, there seemed to be no significant connection, a hefty prefix that could have been cut, simplified into a setup completed within ten minutes.
The two of them found it hard to see the movie as just a simple commercial film anymore, for a commercial film wouldn't be shot this way!
