Chapter 52: A Legendary Item Dropped?!
“Same as always, anonymous.”
Ye Qiu plopped down onto the ground, gasping for breath.
He was utterly exhausted, mostly mentally. Slaying the Ultimate Split Demon had wrung out everything he had.
First were all the real-world items he’d used — gas tanks, Molotovs, and the like. Then came the Coward’s Cloak and its skill, which gave him enough breathing room to think and regroup. Most importantly, there was his special skill:
[Apprentice’s Will: After activation, you may copy one target skill. Gain one use per level. (Current charges: 17/20)].
Ye Qiu had used this skill multiple times during close encounters with the Split Demon and successfully acquired two skills:
[Light Shield (Lv.1): 1/5000. Upon use, creates a barrier around the user that blocks one incoming attack. Cooldown: 10 minutes.].
[Split Cell (Lv.1): 1/10000. Enters a split state, creating one clone with equal stats. Personal stats are divided between the two. If the clone dies, the original regains full stats and receives a 3-minute buff. Usable once. Cooldown: 10 days. (Note: Using this skill resets the cooldown of all other skills.)].
Of course, he couldn’t forget the help of Heavenly Eye either!
Next, Ye Qiu began looting the battlefield. The first thing he saw were three glowing orbs:

The first two were nice, but the last one had Ye Qiu sucking in a breath of cold air.
He thought about using it right away, but decided to stash it instead.
The higher the level of what you’re upgrading, the better the return. For instance, leveling up from 0 to 1 might take just 100 XP, but leveling from 99 to 100 could take billions.
Same for gear: from +0 to +1 is easy, but from +12 to +13, even a supreme blacksmith has a super low success rate.
Yet the Universal Orb guarantees a 100% upgrade instantly.
The second item was a suit of armor:
[Split Demon Armor (Pink Spirit Gear): Requirements—Level 20, Strength 100. This armor is made from the Split Demon’s natural flesh. Upon death, it detaches and becomes wearable. ].

“A Spirit-grade item!” Ye Qiu was overjoyed.
He quickly swapped out his old steel armor and donned the new Split Demon Armor. Perfect fit! He was level 20 now, and his Strength had long surpassed 100. Most players probably couldn’t even wear it.
Once equipped, a feeling of comfort and security washed over him.
He turned his attention to the third item, a skill book.
[Skill Book: Teleport (Special Skill): Learn to teleport to a preset location. (Note: Cannot be used in combat.)].
“Learn!” Ye Qiu was thrilled.
This skill was famous! While it didn’t have the same notoriety as Heavenly Eye, it was still considered a god-tier utility skill.
The Trial City world was vast. Even just the Novice Village was the size of a real-world county, and that’s not counting the wilderness.
Once players hit Level 10 and enter the cities, the scale becomes insane. Each city could rival an entire province in size.
Monster zones? Unmeasurable!
If a player didn’t have high Agility, a long-endurance mount, or the money to pay for a sky ferry, they might be stuck in the same city forever.
In his past life, Ye Qiu had only made it to three cities.
Some quests required travel across massive zones, taking ten days or more just for one round trip. Most of the time was wasted on traveling!
Once learned, the skill read: [Teleport (Special Skill): When not in combat, teleport instantly to a preset location. You can change the location at will. Max preset points: 20 (increases with level).].
“Let’s try it!” Ye Qiu closed his eyes and set the Novice Village Secret Realm as his teleport point.
Somewhere deep within, a mark was left behind. From now on, a mere thought could instantly bring him back here.
After playing around with teleportation for a bit, Ye Qiu checked the fourth item, a giant bell:

“What the hell!!!” Ye Qiu jumped to his feet.
A gold-tier legendary item?!
He laughed like a fool, then pinched his thigh hard.
It’s real. It’s really real!
In his past life, Legendary gold-tier items were the stuff of myth. They were discussed, dreamed about, obsessed over. And now, he had one in his hands!
The feeling was surreal, like a dream.
Ye Qiu stood there stunned for a long while before finally collecting himself. This was no time to be excited or relaxed.
He remembered that others in his past life had found gold-tier items too… and still died to demons.
No matter how powerful the item, it wasn’t true invincibility.
Only personal strength, power beyond any item, was true invincibility!

He really was a countryside bumpkin. His first time seeing a Legendary item, and his scroll couldn’t even appraise it!
Left with no choice, he stowed it away safely.
Then, Ye Qiu’s eyes drifted to the massive corpse of the Ultimate Split Demon. He hadn’t forgotten about the Epic-tier side quest, which was bring back blood from an Outer Demon!
“…How do I even draw blood from this thing?”
He was stumped. No way he could log off now and go find a syringe.
“Big bro!” a voice called out nearby.
Ye Qiu looked over to see Xie Zhongyuan crouching and cowering, too afraid to approach. But he called out with trembling excitement:
“Big bro… did… did you really kill it?” His voice quivered, mixing fear with deep anticipation, and his eyes were filled with utter shock.
