As a Grey Knight In Naruto Chapter 83

The reinforced door to the Hokage Tower creaked slightly as it slid open, not the usual standard-sized entry, but the one specially modified just months ago. It had to be widened, reinforced, and embedded with a chakra sensor seal keyed only to one man.

A man standing 2.2 meters tall.

Hajime entered, casting a long shadow against the polished floor of the strategy chamber. He wore no armor today, only a simple dark tunic over fitted shinobi trousers, his sleeves rolled past the elbow. Yet even without his warplate, there was an undeniable weight to his presence. His silver eyes were sharp, unreadable, and as he passed the threshold, every ANBU stationed in the hall instinctively straightened.

Shikaku Nara was already waiting at the central table, a large map unfurled across its surface. The aging tactician glanced up briefly before returning to his notes. "Glad you could make it."

Tsunade stood behind her desk, arms crossed, brow lined in thought. Shizune lingered at her side with a clipboard, but even she seemed more subdued than usual.

"Close the doors," Tsunade said.

A masked ANBU stepped forward and sealed the chamber.

Hajime's gaze scanned the room, one table, four people, three of them among the most powerful minds in the village. He stepped forward without a word and took his place beside the map, glancing down at the ink-marked borders of the Land of Fire.

"Three intrusions," Shikaku began, tapping specific marks along the northern ridgeline. "Hidden Cloud. Two teams were spotted. One vanished before they were cornered. The other two retreated when confronted."

"Did they engage?" Hajime asked.

"No," Shikaku replied. "Too careful. They weren't probing for targets. They were watching us."

Tsunade added, "They didn't cross deep. Just enough to trigger our perimeter."

Hajime's tone was cool. "Scouting response time. Watching how fast we mobilize."

"Exactly," Shikaku confirmed, brushing hair back from his face. "It's not a strike group. It's recon, standard doctrine for an opportunistic village. Test the waters before making waves."

Hajime remained silent a moment longer, then said, "They think we're unstable."

Tsunade's jaw clenched slightly. "With Hiruzen gone. With Orochimaru's invasion. With Danzo's death."

"And civil tension at home," Shikaku added.

All true.

Konoha's enemies saw a wound, and they were sniffing for blood.

Shikaku leaned down and tapped another point on the map, an observation post along the northeastern cliffs. "Our outer squads are ready, but we're stretched thin. We don't want to provoke anything, but if Cloud keeps pressing"

"They won't stop," Hajime cut in.

The room went quiet.

"Hidden Cloud doesn't know caution," he continued, voice even. "They see peace as weakness. And now they believe Konoha is fractured."

Shikaku didn't argue. "Which is why we need to set terms."

He outlined a simple, calculated proposal:

Deploy visible strength to the borders. Not a provocation, just presence. Send high-ranking Jōnin like Kakashi or Guy.

Create a mobile strike force on standby. Not publicized. Quietly assembled. Prepared to intercept if Cloud crosses the line.

Diplomatic interference. Reach out through Fire Country's noble families to pressure Lightning Country's daimyō, creating hesitation at the top.

Tsunade absorbed it all, expression unreadable. Then, she looked to Hajime.

"They're watching for weakness," she said. "I need them to see something else."

Hajime nodded once.

"I'll stand where you need me to."

Shikaku's gaze flicked to him. "You won't be subtle."

"I'm not meant to be," Hajime replied.

The Nara clan head let out a faint breath through his nose. "Good."

As the discussion shifted into final assignments, Hajime remained still, unshifting as a statue. He was a weapon forged in silence, trained not just for strength but precision. Tsunade watched him a moment longer. She remembered when they first arrived in Konoha, barely four months ago. Now... the very shape of the village was bending around his existence.

Eventually, the meeting began to wind down.

Tsunade dismissed Shizune and Shikaku, who both departed after brief nods. When they were alone, she circled back toward her desk and opened a drawer. She pulled out a red-seal folder, the same one Hajime had seen days earlier.

She didn't open it.

Not yet.

Instead, she looked up at him.

"You know what this means, don't you?"

He nodded. "If they come, they die."

Her voice was softer now. "But if they don't… then the village needs to see a symbol. Something that doesn't just kill for us, but protects us. A shield. Not a sword."

Hajime stepped forward.

His silver eyes never wavered.

"Send me then, Tsunade-sama," he said. "I will be your sword and shield, the hand that strikes so yours can heal."

The room fell into silence again.

And in that silence, Tsunade, God of Slugs, Sannin of Legends, Hokage of the Hidden Leaf, smiled faintly, not out of amusement, but of calm assurance.

Her answer came quietly.

"Then go sharpen your edge."

End of Chapter 82 – "I will be your sword and shield, the hand that strikes so yours can heal"
