After much convincing, Qi Taiguo finally managed to appease Cheng Su and heaved a sigh of relief.
After breakfast, Cheng Su had to return to the factory to deal with the issue of someone using fake labels on their jam, as well as Chen Zhiquan’s future with the company which also needed to be addressed.
Back at the company, Cheng Su first touched base with Ying Xiaoya, and upon learning that the report had been completely suppressed and that the president of Qing City News Agency had agreed not to publish it, she breathed a sigh of relief.
"Do you think we should send a gift to the president of the agency?" Cheng Su asked.
Ying Xiaoya replied, "I asked my dad about it last night, and he said there’s no need. Right now, our company is in the eye of the storm. If we send gifts and people find out, they might think our company has something to hide. He said he’ll have a private dinner with the president of the agency later on."
Cheng Su thought for a moment and then said, "Then please thank your father for me."
"Look at you, so formal," Ying Xiaoya chided with feigned annoyance. "What about Chen Zhiquan? What’s your plan for him?"
Cheng Su pursed her lips and pondered for a moment before saying, "Just terminate and fire him. Call Lifen and Wang Bo over, we should also hold a meeting to announce it."
Chen Zhiquan had done such a thing and couldn’t be kept in the company. It wasn’t that Cheng Suxin was heartless, but as the boss, she couldn’t tolerate an employee betraying their own company. To do so would make her nothing short of a perennial saint.
Everyone has their limits, and so does Cheng Su. Chen Zhiquan’s betrayal had crossed her line, something she absolutely could not tolerate.
Not reporting him to the police was already the utmost leniency she could offer.
Ying Xiaoya agreed that firing him was inevitable and said nothing more, only asking Mai Yanmei to call people in for a meeting.
Once the meeting began, Zhu Lifen and Wang Bo were stunned to hear about Chen Zhiquan’s behavior.
"How could he do such a thing when our company hasn’t mistreated him!" Zhu Lifen was furious and embarrassed, as Chen Zhiquan was under her supervision; his troublemaking was essentially her failure to manage properly.
Therefore, she was afraid that Cheng Su might hold her accountable for Chen Zhiquan’s actions.
"Once a person is constrained, they have a weakness. If their resolve isn’t strong, they can be easily manipulated. Fortunately, he has some conscience left and didn’t make me waste time investigating, as he confessed everything!" Cheng Su said indifferently.
"What conscience? It’s clear that he can’t bear the guilt himself!" Zhu Lifen said indignantly.
Cheng Su glanced at her and said, "Alright. That he confessed counts as him trying to make amends. The most important thing now is to find out who’s pulling the strings behind the scenes."
"Are you saying that someone else is directing those people? They’re not just thugs?" Wang Bo asked.
Cheng Su replied, "What do you think? Street thugs, making their own jam to target our company? It’s definitely a competitor. We just don’t know which one yet!"
"Why don’t we ask Chen Zhiquan? Didn’t he promise to help us find out?" Zhu Lifen asked anxiously, hoping to redeem herself as well.
"I wonder if he has any news," Cheng Su murmured as she pursed her lips.
"What’s this about having news or not?" A bright voice sounded at the door, and everyone turned in surprise.
Ning Ge strode in, but he had only taken a couple of steps when a pen flew straight at him, followed by a roar, "You scoundrel, finally bothered to roll back here!"
