Bai Feng lowered his head, feeling the chill at his neck. His slender neck tilted slightly as he looked down at Si Yan, who held a sharp purple snake scale to his throat.
"Are you angry?" the male’s voice was gentle.
Even though his own life was threatened, there wasn’t a trace of anger in his tone.
"Bai Feng," Si Yan locked eyes with him, "you back off."
The male, so highly respected in the skies, let out a soft laugh at that moment.
"That tiger, is he important to you?" Bai Feng asked.
Si Yan narrowed her eyes.
After leaving the Yanxiang Tribe, taking the three cubs to Dark Sun Lake had indeed been difficult, and she had suffered considerably. Now that she had infiltrated Black Tiger City, she needed its power, and she needed Ming Yan’s power.
"Important," Si Yan replied succinctly.
Bai Feng’s words and Si Yan’s words reached Ming Yan’s ears, every single one. Ming Yan’s thick tiger paws clenched and then unclenched. He shook his massive body and then stood up!
Bai Feng, seemingly unafraid of the snake scale in Si Yan’s hand, gently nuzzled her head.
"Don’t worry, it’ll be over soon," he said.
With that, he once again tucked his wings and, with a sharp twist, dived towards Ming Yan!
"ROAR!!!" the Black Tiger bellowed.
The wind whipped at Si Yan’s face, making it sting. She clung tightly to Bai Feng’s feathers to keep from falling.
The powerful negative pressure, ten times more intense than any roller coaster ride, left her unable to utter a single word.
Yet, in the blink of an eye, the White Eagle and the Black Tiger completed their second clash.
With a CLANK, Bai Feng soared back into the air.
The Black Tiger, however, was injured once more and sent flying.
Instant silence. Black Tiger City, especially, fell completely quiet.
Ming Yan of the Black Tigers, a Beastman who had just reached the Purple Crystal rank, was a force not to be underestimated anywhere in the Beast World.
Yet, at this very moment, facing Bai Feng of the White Eagles, he seemed powerless to fight back.
Being right in the middle of it, Si Yan felt even more stunned. She cast a sidelong glance at Bai Feng. The two males were clashing with such ferocity, yet she felt perfectly safe and secure, neither afraid of the flight nor tense from the fierce battle.
Si Yan looked up, somewhat surprised.
At the same time, she noticed a hint of impatience in Bai Feng’s eyes.
Following his gaze, she saw the Black Tiger on the ground struggling to his feet, his face contorted in a ferocious snarl as he let out a wild beast’s roar at Bai Feng.
"Black Tiger, do you have a death wish?" Bai Feng’s eyes were cold and clear.
Ming Yan rose to all fours, his gaze fixed intently on Si Yan. He noted the snake scale in her hand and then, observing the complex emotions that flickered in her eyes as she glanced at Bai Feng.
Then, he declared imposingly, "High Priest Bai Feng of White Eagle City, hehe. The legendary envoy of the Beast God who has lived for hundreds of years, and you can’t even kill me, a light Purple Crystal Beastman. Is that all you’ve got?"
Ming Yan’s tiger form tensed, his powerful limbs gripping the earth, claws extended.
The Beast God’s envoy?
Si Yan suddenly recalled Mu Xiao once asking if she was an envoy of the Beast God.
So, in White Eagle City, the White Eagle Beastmen truly had their own envoy of the Beast God!
Bai Feng looked directly at Ming Yan, the godlike man replying with arrogance, "Ming Yan of Black Tiger City, I admit, you are a male worthy of competing with me."
"Competing? Did Lord Bai Feng say competing?" The White Eagles stirred with agitation.
Bai Shou was utterly bewildered. He turned to the beastman beside him, asking, "Is Lord Bai Feng... engaging in mating competition?"

A female often possessed many males, but only the most formidable and powerful among them could become the Zheng Xiong—the male most favored and preferred by her.
Therefore, fierce rivalries and fights often erupted among the males courting a female.
One reason was to win her favor; the other was to fight for status.
Such things were commonplace in the Beast World.
