Yan Xinxin hadn’t even finished her sentence when Mo Chuxi’s expression suddenly darkened, his handsome face becoming shrouded in an incredibly complex mix of emotions.
"Yan Xinxin, you’ve certainly got some nerve!"
From his thin lips escaped such a remark, tinged with helplessness, as Mo Chuxi abruptly scooped Yan Xinxin up in his arms and rushed toward the nearest hospital.
During the journey, Mo Chuxi experienced a kind of anxiety he had never felt before.
Fortunately, it was only a minor amount of bleeding, and the baby was unharmed. But it was clear that such a commotion during the early stage of pregnancy would make the situation more precarious for the fetus.
The drive back was shrouded in a suffocating silence.
Yan Xinxin trudged slowly behind Mo Chuxi, following him all the way back to the apartment.
With a loud "bang," Mo Chuxi slammed the door shut and strode over to the couch, his figure radiating icy hostility as he sat down.
The noise startled Yan Xinxin, making her instinctively flinch.
She stood motionless in front of him, like a student guilty of wrongdoing awaiting her punishment.
Mo Chuxi’s sharp features were steeped in solemnity, his cold, Satan-like gaze locking onto her fearful and panicked eyes.
"What’s wrong? Are you scared?"
He broke the silence, his voice frigid yet interwoven with traces of helplessness.
"Yan Xinxin, why do I feel like I can’t see any trace of fear in you?"
Yan Xinxin was momentarily speechless but could clearly sense that this man was furious—furious beyond measure!
"Were you planning on not telling me at all? You wanted to secretly get rid of it, didn’t you?"
Yan Xinxin admitted outright.
Mo Chuxi’s chest clenched for a moment, and his gaze instantly turned frosty. He suddenly stood up, his long fingers gripping Yan Xinxin’s chin.
"Why wouldn’t I dare?"
Yan Xinxin raised her starry eyes. Though fear gripped her, she maintained a defiant stance.
"This was nothing more than an accident between us. Since it’s just an accident, why add to the complications?"
Facing Yan Xinxin’s stubborn and resistant gaze, Mo Chuxi’s brows furrowed even tighter.
"Yan Xinxin, do you even understand? You’re pregnant. That little thing in your belly is mine!"
His deep voice, rich as a cello, brushed past her ears.
"You’d rather have a child with some random stranger than have mine? Yan Xinxin, are you discriminating against me?"
"Mo Chuxi, you’ve been a stranger to me from the very beginning anyway."
"What did you just say?"
Mo Chuxi’s sharp eyes locked onto the woman in front of him whose gaze was gradually moistening.
Yan Xinxin pressed her pale pink lips together and let out a faintly mocking smile.
"I don’t want my baby to be born without a father, like Xi..."
Upon hearing this, Mo Chuxi chuckled darkly, though his expression remained deep and inscrutable.
"Yan Xinxin, I’m alive. What do you mean by not having a father? Hm?"
"Young Master Mo, you and I are people from two completely different worlds. Did you really think I’d foolishly covet the title of ’Mrs. Mo’?"
Yan Xinxin responded with a shallow smile, her gaze sinking along with her heartbeat.
"Even if you were a king, you couldn’t dismiss the opinions of your family outright. I’m not cut out to climb that high..."
"Listen to me, Yan Xinxin. If I were a king, I’d make sure you were crowned my queen!"
Mo Chuxi interrupted her firmly, his tone unyielding.
"You’d better behave and stop plotting against my son. If you dare harm the little one in your stomach, you’ll find out just how terrifying the consequences can be."
After throwing down those words, Mo Chuxi turned away, radiating a chilling aura.
Yan Xinxin stood frozen, dumbstruck, her heart racing wildly beyond her control.
The thought of secretly abandoning this unexpected burden vanished without a trace. Mo Chuxi’s gaze from earlier was too overpowering, too fearsome...
