This was Makarov’s way of looking after the exam participants; otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to earn many points.
Precht Gaebolg, having been a Fairy Tail guild master and one of its founders, knew better than anyone how much Tenrou Island supported Fairy Tail.
The Tenrou Tree was connected to each member through their guild mark, and it could be used to steal everyone’s magic.
In the original story, Fairy Tail struggled because Azuma, one of the Seven Kin of Purgatory, had felled the Tenrou Tree.
So, if Drake were Precht, he’d also arrange for someone to attack the Tenrou Tree.
But now, three S-class mages were distributed in a triangle around the Tenrou Tree; even Precht himself might not succeed.
As for the others, anyone who tried to destroy the Tenrou Tree would be beaten half to death.
Logically, the easiest way to pass the exam would be to quickly find and defeat the Seven Kin of Purgatory scattered around the island.

Happy didn’t know why Natsu said that and didn’t know how to respond.
Natsu continued, "The Grimoire Heart guild master is the second guild master, the old man’s teacher. He must be sad that he became an enemy!
The old man sees him as a target for the exam, but he’s already decided to defeat him himself.
So I’ll defeat that guy before the old man does!"
Natsu was usually carefree, but he was sensitive to his friends and family.
Happy’s expression changed. "Got it! I’ll speed up!"
"Thanks, Happy!"
Coincidentally, someone else had the same idea. Like brothers, they thought alike!
Fal carried Drake and Wendy into the air, and Drake spread his senses.

A fleet of warships almost covered the sea near Tenrou Island, surrounding Grimoire Heart’s airship.
But the Council never failed to disappoint. Drake had just spotted them when the Council’s warships began to explode, one after another... no, a group after another.
Drake saw what happened; a few people were using magic to destroy the warships.
No wonder the Seven Kin of Purgatory hadn’t landed on Tenrou Island; they were dealing with the Council.
Warships were powerful weapons, but they were just toys to high-level mages.
Almost instantly, a third of the Council’s fleet was destroyed. The fleet commander wasn’t stupid; he ordered the outer warships to retreat.
The Seven Kin of Purgatory didn’t pursue, instead approaching Tenrou Island.
The prey had entered the game, and the Fairy Tail hunt began. Drake also moved towards his prey.

Natsu punched a minion away, saying impatiently, "Minions without points, don’t get in my way!"
"That guy is Fairy Tail’s fire dragon!"
"A... a monster!"
The minions were scared of Natsu and trembled as they tried to run!
But a black flame consumed them.
A fierce-looking, yellow-haired youth walked over, saying loudly, "Grimoire Heart is the strongest! You guys are members of the guild; don’t be scared off!"
Natsu sensed danger and became wary. "Who are you?"
Happy said, "The guild master just introduced him; he’s one of the Seven Kin of Purgatory!"
Natsu looked enlightened. "So this guy is worth thirty points!"
The youth shouted, "What thirty points? I’m Zancrow, one of the Seven Kin of Purgatory!"
Zancrow grinned provocatively. "You’re Natsu, the fire dragon slayer, right? Too bad for you; I’m a flame god slayer!"
Black flames wrapped around Zancrow’s arm.
Like destiny, the fire dragon and the fire god had met.
...
"Ara ara, are you lost? This isn’t a place for you."
Mirajane, having absorbed the Demon Soul, flew in the air, looking down at the forest with a cold voice.
A tree suddenly twisted and transformed, gradually forming a human shape. Azuma, one of the Seven Kin of Purgatory, appeared.

In the distance, a person resembling an upright goat coldly observed the battle, a hint of internal conflict flickering in their gaze as they occasionally glanced at Lucy.
