BLOOD MUTANT SYSTEM. Chapter 319

[Blood Species Planet]

Twenty thousand soldiers, a legion of ships, eight thousand Mechs.

General Grim and his soldiers, all equipped with genetically modified symbiotes, landed at a strategic location on the Blood Species planet, far from where the creatures themselves dwelt. Upon landing, the Granians pitched camp and set up temporary fortresses with their Mechs and ships already activated and ready for battle.

Most of the soldiers were on the planet for the first time in their lives, their eyes witnessing the sheer monstrosity of the planet’s atmosphere.

Unlike the other planets in the galaxy, this one was far from any sun, star, or solar system, with no neighboring planets orbiting it. Despite that, it wasn’t as cold as one would expect, nor did it have any bodies of water. The poor atmosphere made it impossible for plant life to flourish.

However, even though its conditions were beyond poor, the planet had its own distinct wildlife and bodies of liquid...all made from either blood or a blood substitute. The trees looked almost alive, with pulsating wooden bodies oozing with blood.

Veins filled with multicolored volumes of blood spread across the planet’s surface, giving it an eerie atmosphere. There was no sunlight, so the majority of the planet was pitch black.

The air was rancid with the stench of rotting flesh, sticky blood, and acidic iron, which further amplified the already putrid atmosphere. Any normal species of life wouldn’t last a minute on the Blood Species’ planet—a fact the Granians had learned the first time they visited.

This time, however, they were prepared with symbiotes and protective suits of armor covering their bodies. The symbiotes amplified their bodies with additional strength and weight, making their movements slightly heavier in compensation for the planet’s weak gravitational pull.

The suits, fitted with flashlights and high electric currents on the outside, provided protection from physical contact with any creature that dared to touch them. They also acted as a first line of defense against the Blood Drain ability every creature on the planet possessed.

"It has been equivalent to seven days of our solar system since we made contact on the planet," Grim spoke into a small recording device, giving an oral report to his superiors. "There is no sunlight, no moonlight, and no other source of natural light other than a red light produced by the glowing veins on the ground.

"We will begin our attack in a few short minutes. All units are ready and armed to the teeth. Of course, not every being will be killed; just the ones we manage to capture will survive for a minimal amount of time. A report shall be given once the mission is complete."

General Grim, leading the frontline, flew in his private ship with thousands of Mechs, other ships, and foot soldiers following. It took them about thirty minutes, but they arrived at the most congested center of the planet, the area where most of the Blood Species thrived and lived.

Upon their arrival, the Granians opened heavy fire on the primitive creatures. The shots from their blasters damaged their bodies greatly but didn’t kill them instantly.

With the Mechs marching at the extreme front, they provided protection to the foot soldiers as the ships unleashed the first rounds of heavy fire.

All the Blood Species standing in their way were severely injured, the most unfortunate killed in the blasts. Those who were fortunate enough to survive the first attacks were killed instantly by the Mechs, and those who survived the Mechs were dealt with by the foot soldiers, who mercilessly slaughtered them.

This bloodshed continued with relentless attacks from the Granians, who injured, killed, and captured the Blood Species. Content orıginally comes from 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭·𝔣𝔦𝔯𝔢·𝗇𝗲𝘵

For the time being, there was no opposition from the Blood Species since most could only drain blood and sink their claws into flesh. These minuscule means of offense did nothing to the Granians, who continued their attack.

For over an hour, the Granians killed and captured more Blood Species than the number of soldiers in their ranks, all without suffering any casualties. This turned from a war into a genocide, with the Blood Species dying by the thousands without any substantial means of fighting back.

However, all of that changed when a second wave of Blood Species arrived—one that was stronger, larger, and slightly smarter than the first.

*SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH*

Powerful screams, loud enough to rip flesh off bones, brought more than half of the ships in the air crashing to the ground. The veins on the planet’s surface wrapped themselves around the downed ships, keeping them permanently grounded.

Pilots who weren’t able to escape in time were strangled to death and later drained to feed the screeching Blood Species.

Unlike the first wave, these creatures had more defined humanoid shapes, with bodies three times larger than the first. Their faces were more distinct, with crescent-shaped, multicolored eyes staring at their enemies.

Their claws were longer and more jagged, their hands wide enough to grab a Granian by the head. On their backs swung tendrils that stretched forth and pierced through the glass shields of the Mechs at the frontline.

With only half of their ships left, the Granians faced less opposition, which allowed the Blood Species to break through the Mech defenses and deal with the foot soldiers.

Hundreds of soldiers lost their hearing as the Blood Species screamed, their ears bleeding instantly.

Even though their suits provided protection from the Blood Species’ Blood Drain abilities, they didn’t protect them from having any external drops of blood being controlled—a fact that became evident when the Blood Species turned the blood from the bleeding Granian ears into tiny blood spikes.

Not only did the Granians suffer hearing loss, but they also died due to multiple lacerations on their heads, slowly bleeding out until they met their timely deaths.

Soon, the Granian casualty numbers increased as the screeching Blood Species advanced. Even General Grim, who led the frontline, found himself surrounded by Blood Species with heavy bloodlust emanating from their bodies.

The only reason he wasn’t killed by their screeches was due to his quick adaptability in battle. Grim used metal plates from the wrecked ships to deflect the sound waves of the Blood Species—a technique his units observed, learned, and used to defend against the enemy.

Now that they had found a loophole, the Granians continued their advance, with the remaining foot soldiers mercilessly slaughtering the Blood Species with ease, all thanks to their suits and General Grim’s leadership.
