Bo Xichen turned his head and smiled faintly. "Don’t you want to go down and say a few words?"
Gu Anxi crinkled her nose. "Bo Xichen, aren’t you being a little too magnanimous?"
"It’s not about being magnanimous." He turned, his tall, slender figure leaning against the railing. "I just think you two should talk. Bring things to a proper close, hm?"
Gu Anxi gave him a strange look. "Bo Xichen, are you jealous, or are you questioning me?"
She bristled a little. "Haven’t you ever liked anyone else?"
Bo Xichen, with his usual suave demeanor, said, "I have! Luo Lin! Satisfied now, Miss Gu Anxi?"
Gu Anxi’s expression grew even stranger, and she muttered a few words under her breath.
After a moment, she moved closer and hugged his waist, resting her small head against his heart. "Uncle, I only like you now."
"I know," Bo Xichen stroked her hair, an enigmatic smile on his face. "Actually, Anxi, you don’t need to keep confessing."
The girl in his arms was on the verge of bristling again.
Suppressing his laughter, he said, "Alright, decide if you want to go over. I’m only giving you one chance."
She looked up, her small, fair face upturned. "Why?"
Bo Xichen paused for a moment. "Because from now on, you’re mine."
She buried her head in his chest again. "What do I do, Bo Xichen? I want to confess again."
He patted her. "Save it for tonight."
Her face flushed hot, and she ran off.
Bo Xichen chuckled softly and turned to watch her run out of the villa. After a moment, her steps slowed.
Truthfully, how could he not be jealous? It was just that he was much older than her and was willing to indulge her a little more. No matter how independent or capable Anxi was, Qin Siyuan remained a lingering regret for her. If a few words could help her truly let go... well, if he had to feel a pang of jealousy, so be it!
Qin Siyuan kept his eyes closed, his heart tormented as if being roasted on a spit. Suddenly, a voice sounded by his ear, "Qin Siyuan."
He snapped his eyes open; they were bloodshot. His voice trembled. "Gu Anxi."
Gu Anxi stood there, much taller than he remembered. She was no longer the little girl he once knew.
Her features had matured, and she carried herself with a striking poise. Just by standing there, she became the center of attention.
Qin Siyuan suddenly calmed down and said softly, "The old man had a stroke. He can’t walk or speak anymore."
"Is that a plea for mercy?" Gu Anxi asked, her voice equally calm.
Qin Siyuan’s lips moved, but then he shook his head. "No. I’m just letting you know."
Gu Anxi lowered her gaze, her expression unreadable. The air, too, fell silent.
So much had happened between them. They could no longer interact as they once had; any attempt at conversation would now feel contrived.
After a long, long time, Qin Siyuan suddenly asked quietly, "Anxi, did it hurt? Was it very painful back then?"

He said woodenly, "That’s good. As long as it doesn’t hurt anymore. Bo Xichen is the best doctor, so I’m relieved too."
Gu Anxi merely offered another faint smile.
Then she spoke, her voice almost a sigh, "Qin Siyuan, hang in there."
She turned and walked towards the villa, pausing in her stride. "One day, you won’t feel pain either."
Though they were just a few simple words, the man she left behind began to cry after hearing them.
