Zhou Yun was stunned, not knowing what to do as she looked up towards Su Yan, seeing a triumphant gleam on Su Yan’s face from catching someone red-handed.
Su Yan smirked at her with disdain.
"What do you mean?" Zhou Yun realized something was off, turned to Gan Bida and asked, "What happened? Why are you saying that I cheated?"
Gan Bida walked over, with a somewhat embarrassed expression and hesitated as if he wanted to say something but stopped himself.
"Xiao Yun, during the recording of our show, we are not allowed to use cell phones to look up information," Gan Bida said. "Didn’t your scriptwriter tell you this?"
Each guest on the show is assigned a scriptwriter who follows them around and is responsible for all their specific matters.
Zhou Yun looked puzzledly at her scriptwriter. Her scriptwriter was a young girl named Xiao Wan, with a ponytail, wearing a plaid shirt, and black-framed glasses. Suddenly being called out, the young girl’s face immediately showed signs of nervousness, her doe-like eyes widening as she hesitantly spoke, "I—I mentioned this rule to Miss Zhou, bu—but maybe Miss Zhou forgot."
Zhou Yun’s gaze fell on Xiao Wan, and she paused silently for half a second.
Su Yan chuckled, suddenly pulled out a cigarette, lit it with a lighter, and said, "It’s Zhou Yun’s first time recording our program, she may not be aware of the rules."
The noisy chatter around them gradually subsided, as if everyone had noticed that something was happening here.
All curious eyes turned towards Zhou Yun.
Zhou Yun glanced at Xiao Wan, smiled faintly, and turned to Gan Bida, saying, "Director, I apologize; maybe I was distracted when she mentioned it. I really didn’t know about this rule before. What should we do now? Should we draw another clue or what?"
Gan Bida shook his head and said, "Let’s forget about drawing new clues."
"How can we just forget about it?" Su Yan was not prepared to let it go so easily. She voiced her opposition, "Director, you can’t just let Zhou Yun off because she is popular, can you? If she can check her phone and get away with it, can we also check our phones? Or are you saying that you’ll treat her differently, and only Zhou Yun has this privilege? If that’s the case, then never mind—after all, you’re the director, and we have to follow your orders."
Su Yan was saying this in front of everybody, and if Gan Bida insisted on letting it go, he would indeed give people reason to talk.
How could Gan Bida possibly do that? Su Yan was forcing him to make Zhou Yun draw a new clue, which meant losing face in front of everyone.
Gan Bida looked at Zhou Yun with difficulty.
Zhou Yun smiled brightly, not at all affected by the situation, nodded, and said, "Director, I think I should draw a new clue after all, otherwise if my team wins in the end, everyone from the other teams will say our victory was undeserved. I wouldn’t want that. Since I didn’t know the rules beforehand, it’s no issue to draw a new clue."
Gan Bida nodded and signaled the staff member responsible for the drawing of clues to bring the clue box over again.
Fortunately, they usually prepared several additional clues as backups.
Zhou Yun drew another clue, showed it to the camera, then looked at everyone and said, "I drew ’Dependent.’"
Su Yan snorted lightly and turned to her partner, saying, "Let’s head out."
Zhou Yun couldn’t be bothered pretending to be innocent, she curled her lips and looked at Liu Haiyu, saying, "Sorry to keep you waiting, Brother Haiyu, let’s get going."
Liu Haiyu waved his hand, indicating it was okay.
Zhou Yun thought to herself that Liu Haiyu must have mentally crossed her off his list by now.
Who would want a partner full of troubles and ignorant of the rules?
Zhou Yun turned to look at Xiao Wan, her scriptwriter.
Struck by her gaze, Xiao Wan immediately showed a look of nervousness and unease.
Zhou Yun didn’t say anything.
But she remembered clearly, this girl named Xiao Wan, had definitely not told her about the rule of not using cell phones during the recording of the show.
Zhou Yun was certain about her memory.
The only uncertainty now was whether this girl named Xiao Wan, had deliberately omitted it, or had forgotten it, and fearing punishment, didn’t dare to admit it?
"What does ’Dependent’ mean?" Zhou Yun smiled at Liu Haiyu and asked, "Brother Haiyu, do you have any idea?"
"Ha ha ha ha ha, that was just beautiful!" Wei Chen gave Su Yan a thumbs up. "Did you get a good look at Zhou Yun’s face just now? She tried to put on an act like it wasn’t a big deal. Just like you, I hate it when someone who is clearly not innocent tries to appear very innocent and wronged. Whenever I see such people, I want to punch them right in the face."
