Mo Roulan was by Lin Qianru’s side and scrolling across the interview advertisement of some companies when she received a call from Cheng Yang.
She frowned as she wondered if she should answer the call or not.
In the past two years, she had tried her best not to give any sign to Cheng Yang that could make him feel that they could be together again. She had regretted very badly when she had hurt him once and she would never do it again.
Mo Roulan had learned that it was difficult for her to move on and she had also accepted the fact that she would have to live alone all her life.
Actually she wanted nothing except her family and some peace.
Mo Roulan thought a lot and didn’t pick the call but she was forced to do otherwise sometime later when Cheng Yang continued to call her.
Sighing, she slid the screen to answer the call and left the room.
Unfortunately since she left the room, she didn’t see how Lin Qianru who was lying on the suddenly moved her finger.
Outside the room, Mo Roulan frowned more deeply when she heard Cheng Yang say
"Can we meet?"
"Why?"
Mo Roulan asked in an emotionless voice.
There was silence on the other side before Cheng Yang said
"I thought we were at least friends, Roulan. But the way you keep pushing me away from yourself suddenly make me think otherwise."
Mo Roulan suddenly felt guilty.
They had parted their ways on good terms and she had promised him her sincere friendship. Then how could she behave like this!
She sighed before she said
"Alright. Send me the address. I will be there in the evening."
"Thank you."
She could feel the joy in Cheng Yang’s voice through his words. Mo Roulan didn’t say anything and the call was cut.
She received an address from Cheng Yang and replied with an alright.
After that, she stayed beside Lin Qianru for the whole day until Chi Rong came back from the company.
When Chi Rong came to the room, Mo Roulan told him
"I need to go and meet Cheng Yang."
Chi Rong was surprised but nodded his head with a smile on his lips. He was unaware of Mo Roulan’s history with Cheng Yang but he found him a good guy.
He actually hoped that Mo Roulan would have a boyfriend like Cheng Yang. Perhaps that would help her to remove the wall she had surrounded herself with after whatever happened two years ago.
Mo Roulan left the room to get ready.
Almost an hour later, she left the mansion in a car. The driver drove the car and Mo Roulan received a message from Cheng Yang again asking if she would really come.
There was none of Cheng Yang’s fault for leaving such a message.
Mo Roulan had kept herself away from him for these two years in such a manner that it surprised him that she actually agreed today.
Cheng Yang didn’t get any reply from Mo Roulan and suddenly started to get nervous. However, a few moments later when a car stopped in front of him and Mo Roulan stepped out of the car, he smiled widely.
He ran to her and without thinking anything, hugged her tightly.
Mo Roulan was shocked by the sudden hug and was a lack of knowing what to do.
"I thought that you wouldn’t come."
She heard Cheng Yang say but couldn’t say anything in return.
She just waited for him to leave her silently. Fortunately, he did so, though a few moments later when he realized his mistake.
Cheng Yang didn’t let things go awkward.
"Let’s go inside."
He said gently and Mo Roulan nodded her head.
They went inside a restaurant.
Cheng Yang had already booked a private room.
Mo Roulan was deep in thought as she walked to the private room with him. She wondered if he was again going to propose to her. Somewhere she hoped that he would not do any such thing because she would only refuse.
Surprisingly or unsurprisingly, Cheng Yang didn’t talk about any such thing during the meal. They had a peaceful dinner.
Mo Roulan was starting to get comfortable as she thought it was only a friendly dinner. She also started to regret how she had been pushing Cheng Yang away in the past two years.
He had been nothing but nice to her. He was here alone in New York away from his mother. Unlike her, he didn’t have his family here. He must be in need of some friend.
But Mo Roulan feared even the word friend after what Shen Youlin did to her.
She wondered if she could really give Cheng Yang anything.
Lost in her own thoughts, she finished her meal.
After they were finished, Cheng Yang offered a walk around the street and Mo Roulan again couldn’t refuse.
They walked side by side silently.
None of them said a single word for a long time. Finally, Cheng Yang spoke up
"You have changed a lot."
Mo Roulan didn’t know what she should say in response to these words. Cheng Yang stopped walking suddenly and turned to look at her.
"Now you look to me just like how I was when I met you for the first time."
The words made Mo Roulan stiff slightly.
"I think I should leave."
She whispered but before she could take a step, Cheng Yang held her arm and made her face him.
"Roulan, you helped me in my dark times. Do I not deserve to help you in yours?"
Mo Roulan blinked away the moisture that was starting to fill her eyes. It has been long since she last cried. She didn’t wish to become weak again.
She had cried enough. Now she wanted to be strong for her family.
Cheng Yang was however equally determined to say what was inside his heart today. He suddenly stepped closer to Mo Roulan and cupped her cheek.
"Roulan, can’t you give us one other chance?"
Cheng Yang didn’t even give her the chance to say anything before he said
"I still love you, Roulan."
Mo Roulan blinked and was about to refuse when suddenly a punch landed on Cheng Yang’s cheek and he was thrown to the ground
"Cheng Yang!"
Mo Roulan screamed and looked toward the man who just punched Cheng Yang. But her eyes widened in shock when she saw who the man was.
