“I don’t know.” Gu Zhihan answered without even opening his eyes, as all he wanted to do now was sleep, and nothing else.
“That’s not okay, you have to accompany me, otherwise, I will keep bothering you right here.” Mengmeng, seeing that he dared not agree, got her little temper riled up again and kept pestering him.
She alternated between riding on his back and rolling around embraced with him, even going so far as to bite his neck, ears, and thin lips.
Gu Zhihan really felt defeated, his voice full of weariness and helplessness, “Stop making trouble, isn’t it fine if I accompany you?”
“You know what’s good for you.”
Only then did Mengmeng let him be, happily snuggling up with him to sleep soundly.

“Hubby, what gift do you want?”

Although they were both ten years old, Gu Zhihan was half a head taller than Mengmeng, so every time she looked at him, she had to tilt her neck back.
Gu Zhihan replied nonchalantly.
“So, you mean whatever gift I give you, you would accept it?” Luo Mengmeng blinked her eyes, suddenly pointed at herself, and acted cute, “Look, what if I give myself to you as a gift?”
“…” Gu Zhihan glanced down at her, hastily adding, “Except for you as a gift.”
Luo Mengmeng, puffing with indignation, quickly added another line to preserve her fragile dignity, “You don’t want me, and I don’t even want to give myself to you anyway!”

“Enough, stop with the smart talk and hurry up choosing a gift, I still have a lot of homework left undone.”

“All day, you only think about that homework demon. Do you think I, your official wife, am dead?” Mengmeng couldn’t help but pout and muttered under her breath.

When they were choosing gifts, Mengmeng and Gu Zhihan split up to make their purchases.
That way, they would not see what gifts they were getting for each other. Then, on the birthday, revealing the gifts would be a “surprise” for one another!

“Hubby, have you finished buying yet?” Mengmeng came out of one of the gift stores and saw Gu Zhihan already standing outside with a gift box in his hand.
“Yes.” Gu Zhihan nodded lightly, his long legs moving towards her. He stopped, took her hand, and started walking outside, “It’s time to go back.”
“Okay, let’s hurry up. My godmother told me this morning that after shopping, we should go back for a fitting.” Mengmeng pulled him towards the bus stop.
“What fitting?” Gu Zhihan’s brow furrowed slightly in confusion upon hearing this.
He had no recollection of his mother mentioning anything about a fitting.
“It’s the little formal dress that Gu’s mom had custom-made for us, to wear for the birthday banquet tomorrow.” Mengmeng said sympathetically, glancing at him, “Didn’t Gu’s mom tell you?”
Gu Zhihan felt extremely aggrieved—was he actually his own parents’ child?
