Contract Marriage: Love Has Finally Arrived Chapter 291

Chapter 292: Chapter 293: The Sudden Ringing of the Cell Phone

The more she thought, the more uneasy her heart became. Her face was pressed tightly against the door, straining to hear any sounds from outside.

She heard the familiar footsteps pass the master bedroom and then gradually fade away…

At last, Gu Qiangwei breathed a sigh of relief.

However, just as her tense nerves had no time to relax, the sudden ring of a cell phone in the silent room sounded like a piercing thunderclap, startling Gu Qiangwei so much that her face instantly turned pale as she hurriedly looked down to press the mute button on the phone in her palm!

Despite her swift reaction, the piercing ringtone still penetrated the door and reached the ears of Qin Sijue, who was about to walk towards the balcony.

Hearing the sound, Qin Sijue stopped in his tracks, a frown creasing his brow.

Then he turned his head, looking towards the source of the sound.

After a two-second pause, he stepped forward, heading towards the master bedroom.

The ringing had come from there.

Inside the room, Gu Qiangwei held her breath, not daring to even sigh loudly.

Because she wasn’t certain whether Qin Sijue outside the door had walked far away, much less whether he had heard the ringing of her phone.

Outside, Qin Sijue just stood there, separated from her by a single door.

Just as he raised his hand to touch the metallic doorknob.

Around the corner of the stairs, Feng Jinglei’s eyes widened in shock, “Sijue!”

The sudden voice interrupted Qin Sijue’s action, and he turned his head to look at Feng Jinglei who had unexpectedly arrived.

Feng Jinglei glanced at him and then at the door to the room. Why was he here, and judging by his appearance, it seemed like he was about to open the door. Had he found Weiwei?

With a trace of unease, she walked over.

“You… What are you doing?”

Fearful that he might notice something, Feng Jinglei tried her best to appear calm.

Qin Sijue’s gaze was calm as he glanced at her, “It seems there was a cell phone ringing in the room.”

Feng Jinglei was momentarily startled, her eyes flicking toward the door, and then she forced a smile, “Oh, that’s mine. I just came back to get my phone!”

Qin Sijue frowned, but he had no reason to suspect anything.

Perhaps it was just his cousin-in-law’s phone.

“By the way, your brother is waiting for you downstairs, he… has something to talk to you about!”

With a sideways glance at Feng Jinglei, Qin Sijue didn’t utter a word and simply stepped past her, heading downstairs.

Seeing him leave, Feng Jinglei let out a huge sigh of relief.

Only when his figure had completely vanished on the second floor did she push the door open to see Gu Qiangwei who also looked terrified and pale.

Downstairs, Qin Feimo was sitting on the sofa.

“You were looking for me.”

At the sound, Qin Feimo lifted his gaze and, seeing him descend from the second floor, was slightly surprised.

“Why aren’t you at the banquet hall?”

“I couldn’t be bothered.”

Slumping into the sofa, Qin Sijue picked up the magazine he had been reading earlier and began flipping through it, seemingly nonchalant, “What did you want to talk about?”

Qin Feimo was taken aback, staring at him.

When did he say he was looking for him?

Just as Qin Feimo was about to speak, Feng Jinglei came downstairs.

After glancing at Qin Sijue, she stepped towards Qin Feimo, “Mo, weren’t you just asking where Sijue was?”

Looking at his wife, Qin Feimo frowned.

It was the first time in two years of marriage that he had seen his wife lie.

Lifting his gaze, he met her winking and grimacing gestures.

Though puzzled, Qin Feimo quickly caught on, “Yeah… I just wanted to ask why you weren’t in the banquet hall.”

He felt that his wife was acting unusually, especially regarding Sijue.

His gaze shifted between his wife and Qin Sijue, his wife’s reaction being strange, while Sijue seemed oblivious.

“Mo, Sijue is still upset with grandfather. Do you think you could talk to him, persuade him to leave for just a little while?” She hoped her husband could convince him to leave, even if it was just for a short time!
