Three simple words, yet they conveyed an unmistakable intimidatory force.
“Work.” What else could it be?
The next second, Qin Si’s mind involuntarily flashed back to a piece of information he had seen earlier.
Gu Qiangwei paused for a moment before responding, “I might not be coming back tonight.”
As soon as she finished speaking, there was another silence on the other end of the phone.
Even though they were separated by the call, Gu Qiangwei felt a fleeting illusion.
This man couldn’t be angry, could he?
But it didn’t seem likely, right? After all, they were only faux husband and wife. Even if she didn’t return all night, it didn’t concern him, did it?
Yet, before her thoughts could settle, a low and sensual voice came from the phone, “On the very first day of getting our marriage certificate, you’re not coming home. Do you want to leave me alone in an empty house?”
Gu Qiangwei almost choked on her saliva!
Her staying out all night? They were only faux-married, okay!?
“I said I’m working!”
“What work requires staying up all night?”
“An important client came to our company, I need to be his personal translator all day, so I can’t come back at night.”
Gu Qiangwei was startled, “How did you know?”
“I’m coming to get you.”
Gu Qiangwei hadn’t even processed the information when she realized the call had been disconnected.
Was he saying he was going to pick her up?
With a puzzled heart, Gu Qiangwei went back to the private room.
As soon as she entered, her expression froze.
The men and women who had filled the room just before were now gone.
She immediately caught Mr. Huang’s gaze, “You’re back.”
Gu Qiangwei looked around the room and then walked over to the sofa.
“It’s late, they’ve all left.”
Gu Qiangwei didn’t sit down, and looking at the time, it indeed was very late.
“Mr. Huang, since it’s late, shouldn’t you go up to rest?”
Mr. Huang smiled, a hint of something unreadable flashed in his eyes, “No rush, we haven’t finished our drink yet, have we?”
She thought she could avoid the drink after the phone call, but Mr. Huang clearly had no intention of letting her off!
She forced a smile, “Mr. Huang, it’s very late, shouldn’t we skip the drink?”
“How can that be? I have already toasted to you.” Saying this, Mr. Huang picked up the glass and extended it towards her.
Looking at the drink, Gu Qiangwei hesitated.
Everyone’s gone, why insist on finishing this drink?
“How about this, after this drink, you can go back.”
Upon hearing this, Gu Qiangwei’s eyes lit up.
“Of course, I’m a man of my word!”
One drink wouldn’t make her intoxicated right away, and if she could leave, that would be for the best!

Watching her finish the glass, Mr. Huang laughed with satisfaction, a sly glint in his eyes.
After finishing the drink, Gu Qiangwei stood up, eager to leave the place that reeked of alcohol and lust.
“Mr. Huang, since the drink is done, I’ll be taking my leave now!”
As she turned to leave, Gu Qiangwei suddenly felt a force pulling her back, she stumbled and started to fall backward—
“Miss Gu, I’ve heard you like to play hard to get. I didn’t think it would be true.”
In the moment of falling, Gu Qiangwei heard Mr. Huang’s voice ringing beside her ear.
