Seeing his frightened and aggrieved expression, Qin Sijue suddenly started.
That expression of his was strikingly similar to the last time he had threatened Gu Qiangwei by suspending her over the sea, also looking frantic, nearly crying, and there was an inexplicable similarity between his eyes and demeanor and that of Gu Qiangwei.
Gu Qiangwei had just moved slowly to the door of the hospital room when she saw such a shocking scene that her heartbeat skipped a beat!
"Qin Sijue, what are you doing?"
Her wound hadn’t healed yet, causing pain in her chest when she exerted herself, which made her furrow her brows slightly.
Upon hearing the sudden voice, Qin Sijue turned his head, only to see her somehow out of bed.
The very next moment, he pulled Nangong Xi back in from hanging on the windowsill, set him down, and then rushed to Gu Qiangwei.
With a darkened expression and obvious reproach in his eyes, he asked, "Who let you get out of bed?"
"What were you just doing?"
Even though she wasn’t sure exactly which floor they were on, the absence of even a tree’s shadow outside the window indicated they were definitely on a very high floor.
He had actually suspended a child outside the window like that; to say he lacked compassion would be an understatement!
Then, looking at Nangong Xi who had been brought back in, the child was sitting slumped on the ground, seemingly truly terrified.
She withdrew her gaze, glaring at Qin Sijue, "Could you not scare him like that? Don’t you know heights are a terrifying thing for people with acrophobia!"
She too had been frightened to weak knees when he had suspended her over the sea the last time.
As she spoke, she went to comfort Nangong Xi, not yet realizing how she knew about Nangong Xi’s fear of heights.
"I think he’s quite articulate and doesn’t seem to be scared at all."
"I can’t be bothered with you." She frowned and glanced at him before moving toward Nangong Xi.
But the next moment, she was scooped up in his arms as he ordered, "Lie down properly on the bed, and if you dare to come down again, regardless of whether you’re a patient or not, I’ll definitely spank you as punishment!"
Gu Qiangwei, being carried by him, was worried about Nangong Xi.
His face was pale; he was certainly really frightened!
"You scared him!" she said, looking up at the man’s exquisite profile with some urgency.
Qin Sijue looked back, glancing at Nangong Xi sitting on the ground with none of the earlier struggle or screams, and indeed, he seemed a bit off at that moment.
"Just lie down quietly."
After placing her on the bed, he turned around, picked up Nangong Xi who was sitting outside on the ground, walked into the hospital room, and set him on the sofa.
His deep gaze focused on the boy’s pale face, "Weren’t you quite impressive just now?"
The little guy looked up, glaring defiantly, "Bullying a child and targeting someone’s weakness, what kind of skill is that!"
"Digging at my defenses when I’m not around, is that supposed to be a real skill?"
Qin Sijue couldn’t understand why he was bothering to reason with this little brat when he could just toss him aside and ignore him completely!
Nangong Xi paused and stopped talking.
Gu Qiangwei looked at him worriedly, "Xi."
The little guy turned his head, meeting her worried gaze.
"Are you hurt in any way?"
He shook his head; he was just scared but not hurt, "I’m fine."
"You have acrophobia too?"
Nangong Xi looked up, staring at her, and nodded, "Yeah, Sister, you too?"
Gu Qiangwei smiled, "Yeah, we are quite alike."
"That’s true, you have acrophobia, I have it too. You like eating century egg and lean pork congee, and so do I."
