Shen Mochen approached and scrutinized her from head to toe, noticing that she had become increasingly ethereal and detached from the mundane. There was even more mature charm added to her beauty than before.
Looking at her, Shen Mochen gently curved his lips, still holding that deeply affectionate and infatuated gaze.
"Yeah, it’s been a long time," Gu Qiangwei also smiled, finding that Shen Mochen seemed somewhat haggard.
"Why are you wandering around here alone so late?"
"My car broke down. I’m waiting for Qin Sijue to pick me up."
Hearing the name Qin Sijue, Shen Mochen gave a bitter smile.
"You’re still with him."
"Mhm, we got married."
Shen Mochen felt a bitter sweetness inside, knowing that love is something beyond one’s control. No matter how much one does, if it doesn’t belong to you, it will never be yours.
He then changed the subject, "How long until he arrives?"
Gu Qiangwei looked down and glanced at the time on her wristwatch, "He’s still in a meeting. He said he would come after it ends."
And right now, he stood in the central square not far from the Dijue Group building.
"How about we have a cup of coffee together then?"
Gu Qiangwei smiled and didn’t defer.
Soon, Shen Mochen brought over two cups of coffee, and each of them held one while sitting by the fountain in the square.
Gu Qiangwei could see on his handsome face that he seemed a bit more worn, "What’s wrong with you?"
Shen Mochen looked up at her, gave a light, faint smile, "Nothing, just been a bit busy lately."
"Oh," Gu Qiangwei pursed her lips and took a sip of her coffee.
Not far from them, under the streetlight, a pair of sharp eyes were fixed on the two.
After a brief chat of about fifteen minutes, Gu Qiangwei’s phone rang.
Seeing the caller ID, she knew that Qin Sijue had arrived, so she stood up, "Mochen, I have to go."
Shen Mochen stood up as well, "Alright, let’s keep in touch."
Gu Qiangwei nodded and then turned, tossing her empty paper cup into a trash bin before walking towards the side of the road.
Soon, she saw Qin Sijue’s car rushing her way.
As the car window rolled down, Qin Sijue watched her approaching, his lips curving slightly upwards. But upon seeing the figure not far behind her, his smile slowed.
"What were you just doing?"
Looking at Gu Qiangwei who was now sitting in the passenger seat, Qin Sijue slightly turned, giving her a side glance.
Through the driver’s-side window, Gu Qiangwei naturally saw Shen Mochen, who still stood in the distance watching her, and believed Qin Sijue had seen him as well.
So without concealment, she said, "I was waiting for you alone and happened to run into Mochen, so we just chatted a bit."
"That’s quite a coincidence?" There was an unmistakably sour tone in Qin Sijue’s voice.
"It’s just a coincidence, what else would it be?"
Qin Sijue stared at her for several seconds, but in the end, he didn’t speak. Instead, he started the car and drove in the direction of Jueyuan.
On the road, it seemed as if Qin Sijue remembered something.
Gu Qiangwei looked sideways at him, "Hmm?"
"Did your mother disappear twelve years ago?"
Sudden mention of her mother took Gu Qiangwei aback for a moment, but she still nodded, "Yeah, what about it?"
The red light came on, and Qin Sijue applied the brakes, then turned to look at her, his deep eyes intently studying her face.
"Tang Yuyan was in a car accident twelve years ago. And after the accident, she lost her memory."
Gu Qiangwei was taken aback, staring blankly at Qin Sijue.
