Bai Qianqian leaned against the wall, it wasn’t until the sound of footsteps outside had faded in the distance that she heaved a sigh of relief, feeling pain from her arm. She looked down to find a deep bruise already forming, the worst areas had broken skin.
The elevator arrived and Bai’s mother helped Bai Ruiqing to get in. Bai Jingqing said, “I remembered there’s still something I need to deal with here. You guys head back first, I’ll be home later.”
“You must come home tonight! Otherwise, I’m coming to the hospital to get you.” His mother warned.
As the elevator doors closed, Bai Jingqing’s gaze darkened. He turned and walked toward the safety exit at the other end of the corridor.
Bai Qianqian was descending the stairs step by step, when she heard footsteps behind her. She turned to look and saw Bai Jingqing coming down from above.
Her heart suddenly clenched, and almost by reflex, she started to run downwards.
Bai Jingqing’s forehead was suddenly adorned with three ominous black lines, but he gripped the staircase railing and leapt down, catching Qianqian as she collided with him…
Bai Qianqian screamed out, her face went pale with fright.
They were on different steps, with her just a glance away from his face. Her heart “thumped” wildly, as if about to leap out of her chest.
Bai Jingqing picked her up and walked back up the stairs.
“I… I… just came to see… after all, Bai saved me! Otherwise…” Bai Qianqian stammered out, fearing he might lose his temper again.
Bai Jingqing looked at her pale face, a flicker of something odd in his dark eyes.
Bai Jingqing didn’t speak. Uncertain of his thoughts, Qianqian frequently glanced at him uneasily.
Bai Jingqing carried her to the director’s office on the top floor. Upon entering he placed her upon the sofa.
“Doctor Bai… I really have no undue thoughts about Ruiqing. I just came to see him.” Bai Qianqian explained nervously.
Bai Jingqing remained silent. He fetched some medicine, sat next to her, examined her bruised arm, poured some potion in his hand, rubbed it, then applied it to the bruise.
Seeing that he was ignoring her, Qianqian obediently closed her mouth. Whatever he thought of her, she decided it was not worth explaining anymore.
“Where else does it hurt?” Bai Jingqing asked after applying the medicated potion twice.
“Do you want me to strip you and check your whole body?” His voice turned cold.
Bai Jingqing then applied some more to her knee, to which Qianqian murmured a low ‘Thank you’.
“This medicine is effective in improving circulation and reducing bruising. Apply it whenever you need to.” Bai Jingqing stuffed the medicine in her hand and said, “You can leave.”
She was somewhat surprised. He wasn’t reproaching or scolding her, he hadn’t even acted rudely to her. He had just let her leave?
“If you don’t want to leave, you can stay…”
Before Bai Jingqing could finish his words, Qianqian had already gotten up and run away like a rabbit…
Bai Jingqing sat back on the sofa and massaged his temples. Things were getting complicated. Ruiqing’s inexplicable fixation on Qianqian and Qianqian’s feelings towards Ruiqing were all beyond his expectations…
