Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Trap
That’s right, this was her home. As part of their divorce settlement, he had indeed transferred the house to her name.
’So the person I’m trying to kick out... is him?’
Tristan Grayson’s eyes narrowed menacingly. "Don’t forget, you signed an agreement." ’So what if the house is hers? I can take it back whenever I want.’
At the mention of that agreement, Mika Summers’s expression turned grim.
Honestly, when Tristan Grayson had her sign the agreement, she hadn’t even looked at it. All she wanted was to cut ties with him as quickly as possible.
So now that Tristan Grayson brought it up, a deep sense of unease settled over her. She knew him all too well. He had probably slipped some kind of catch into the agreement.
"I wonder if Miss Summers has read it. The agreement states quite clearly that in case of a breach, you must pay back double! Double... so that would be two hundred million..."
"Two hundred million?" She was stunned. "Young Master Grayson, this is extortion! You tore up that hundred-million-dollar check, which means our agreement is void."
"Who told you I tore up the check? Besides, when I supposedly tore it up... do you have any witnesses?" Tristan Grayson tilted his head back, his eyes glinting with shrewd calculation.
"Tristan Grayson, you bastard!" His words made her absolutely furious.
’How could someone like this exist? How could anyone be so shameless!’
’He was clearly the one who tore up the check, yet now he’s denying it.’
Inside the bathroom, Archie Summers finished a satisfying shower and made his own way to the guest room to sleep.
The whole time, he paid no mind to the warlike tension brewing in the living room.
It wasn’t until he closed the door with a THUD that Mika Summers finally snapped out of it.
’What did I just say?’
’Did I really just point at Tristan Grayson and call him a bastard?’
Tristan Grayson’s expression was thunderous. His dark eyes stared straight at Mika Summers, as if he wanted to devour her whole.
’No one had ever dared to point a finger at me and curse me. Yet this woman... she must have a death wish, daring to call me names. Does she really think I’m some kind of pushover?’
No matter how brave a face she put on, she couldn’t withstand Tristan Grayson’s ferocious glare.
Her resolve wavered, and she said softly, "He’s my brother, not a stranger." She had always taken his warnings to heart, never leaving the house without permission, much less bringing anyone back with her.
But today was an exception. He was her brother, and she had to bring him home.
"..." Tristan Grayson lowered his head, remaining silent, the malice in his eyes growing even more intense.
"Tristan Grayson, do you really have to be this cruel? Why are you treating me like this?" ’Is he really going to torment me like this just because I brought my own brother home?’
’What on earth do I have to do to satisfy him?’
’We’re already divorced, so why does he have to be so overbearing? Why won’t he leave me with even one good impression of him in my heart?’
Tristan Grayson’s dark eyes were somber, his voice frigid. "Five days left! For these next five days, aside from him, don’t let me catch you bringing any other man back here!" With that, Tristan Grayson rose from the sofa and prepared to leave.
Watching Tristan Grayson walk away, her heart twisted into a tight, painful knot.
It hurt so, so much.
’So that’s it. He was afraid I’d go back on my word, so he’d already laid a trap in the agreement.’
She wiped away her tears, worried her brother would see that something was wrong. She hurried into the bathroom to wash her face before she dared to come out.
Archie Summers was leaning against the doorframe. "Mika, you’d better tell me the truth. Who exactly was that man?"
She had just stepped out of the bathroom, only to be startled by the sight of her brother waiting for her like this.
