Don't Mess with That Dragon Chapter 17

"Alright, let’s stop and rest for a while."

In the prior "war," facing the terrifying Jackal Wolf People leader Simon, Rodney’s heart was still in turmoil, his gaze unfocused, seemingly afraid a Jackal Wolf might appear from somewhere.

Only when Fox-faced Quik pulled him did Rodney reluctantly snap back to reality.

"But... what about food?"

Fox-faced Quik’s complexion grew more bitter, causing him to doubt whether his initial decision was correct.

Looking back, aside from the Lizardman leader Rodney, there were two other Lizardmen, seven Kobolds, ten Goblins, and himself, one Fox-faced Man.

This was all that was left of their tribe.

Their tribe originally had more than thirty people, but in the war against the Jackal Wolves, some died and others scattered, leaving only about twenty of them to escape.

Sometimes having more people is an advantage but also a disadvantage, especially during the cold winter season when food is difficult to procure.

With not enough food, even the edible roots outside are covered by the heavy snow, without prey coming out to forage...

In such a situation, it was simply their doom.

It was only at this moment that Lizardman Rodney realized they had fled too hastily and indeed hadn’t brought along any food!

No wonder the Jackal Wolf People didn’t pursue, because they knew that ordinary Beastmen without food in the cold winter season had only one outcome,

The entire group, at this moment, fell into despair.

No food, no shelter from the wind and snow to keep warm,

death was truly their only end.

"No food? Just go and rob some; there should be Beastman Tribes nearby. I refuse to believe every tribe has Extraordinary Professionals like the Jackal Wolves!"

Rodney said fiercely, swinging the War Axe in his hand, which whistled.

At this time, the morale of the crowd slightly improved.

Yet Fox-faced Quik felt even more hopeless in his heart, for robbing did seem like a good plan, but they still needed to find a target!

Those small tribes were usually well-hidden, especially in this icy winter; most tribes had already entered hibernation and wouldn’t go out to show traces. How to find targets in the vast, snowy land?

However, just as Quik was about to speak, he suddenly caught a whiff of a scent.

The smell of food, the smell of meat.

Looking around, it was obvious everyone had smelled it too.

"Hahaha, heaven indeed doesn’t forsake us. Let’s go and rob to our heart’s content!"

Rodney laughed loudly, holding high the War Axe, leading the Beastmen as they walked toward the source of the food aroma.

Quik was about to say something, but his stomach growled, the hunger surged in his heart, pressing down his words.

A group of ragtag soldiers cautiously passed through the forest, the aroma in the air growing stronger, making mouths water.

Logically speaking, being able to eat meat at the start of the cold winter season meant the tribe’s food supplies were ample, and their strength wouldn’t be too weak, not something this group of remnants could provoke.

But clearly, the hunger in their stomachs overcame their fear of the potential foe.

Passing through a patch of woods, the Beastmen crouched in a small hollow, secretly observing the "Great Tribe" at the cliff’s bottom in the distance.

"How is it? How many Beastmen are there? How strong are they?"

Rodney patted the Fox-faced Quik beside him and asked.

Though driven by hunger, this did not mean Rodney lost his reason, foolishly leading people into another tribe’s camp just to die. At least he needed to assess the opponent’s strength.

"Lord Rodney, this..."

The Fox-faced Man stared at the simple tribe below the cliff, his voice somewhat hesitant.

"Their number seems to be only seven... no, seven and a half."

"Seven and a half? Are you joking?"

"No, I counted; there are indeed seven, seven Kobolds, and one Kobold child. Look, their village has only two houses; one should be a food storage warehouse, and that kind of wooden house can hardly fit ten people at most. I shouldn’t have miscounted."

The Fox-faced Man hesitated for a moment but still confirmed.

"Seven Kobolds? Then how could they have such good food?"

Even Rodney didn’t believe it, and Fox-faced Quik couldn’t believe it either.

Kobolds are one of the lowest races on the Seta Continent, weak and without special skills; when did they live so well, even with meat?

Leader Lizardman Rodney turned to the group of ragtag soldiers behind him and shouted:

"You see! Ahead are merely seven Kobolds; for the sake of food, charge together!"

Rodney flipped over the hill, raised the War Axe high, and charged at the Kobold village, followed by the hungry Beastmen, who also jumped out and rushed down.

A gathering of assorted troops charging together; for a moment, there was a feeling of mighty momentum like thousands of troops.

The Kobolds, eating food, felt the ground tremble and immediately discovered the incoming Beastmen from afar.

"Enemy attack! Rise up!"

The Kobold leader Vini reacted first, shouting swiftly, tossing aside the wooden bowl, and grabbing the Wooden Spear by the wall.

"Grab your weapons, assemble, and form ranks!"

At Vini’s command, the Kobolds reflexively picked up Long Spears and assembled, forming a neat line with sharp spears protruding.

By this time, Lizardman Rodney was rushing at them, swinging the War Axe.

Rodney roared angrily, brandishing the War Axe aggressively as he charged at the Kobolds ahead.

Despite these Kobolds acting strangely upon seeing someone much taller than them, instead of fleeing in panic, they stood still like some strange formation.

But that didn’t matter; Rodney believed as long as he charged into the Kobolds’ ranks and killed one or two, the rest would inevitably flee in panic, leaving their collected food in Rodney’s hands!

Rodney was very brave; mere Kobolds—did they think they could overturn the tables?

he was utterly stunned.

Accompanying a loud shout, the spear formation thrust forward, and Rodney’s vision blurred.

Long Spears tore through the air and pierced into his body, blood splattering, with immense force propelling him into the air.

Rodney, with his strong physique, ran faster than the tribe members behind him; when he clashed directly with the Kobolds, his tribe members were still about ten meters away.

When Rodney was overwhelmed and flung into the air by the opposing Kobolds immediately, the Beastmen behind stepped on the brakes hard, bodies rolling clumsily and dropping onto the snowy ground.
