Dragon Ball: I Became Cell in a Doomed Future Chapter 148

The figure in the sky slowly turned, revealing a gaunt, gray face.

Its features… shockingly resembled Majin Buu.

"Another… Majin Buu?" Supreme Kai Shin gasped in disbelief.

He quickly turned toward the Buu standing on the temple grounds. "Mr. Buu, what is the meaning of this?"

Majin Buu stood on edge, his eyes locked onto the gray figure.

Frieza, however, studied the scrawny form with interest.

"So… when the two Buus split, it looks like the skinny one took most of the power."

Shin's expression grew grim. "I sense a terrifying aura… That one is pure evil."

Boom!

A violent explosion ripped through the sky as the two Buus clashed, shockwaves rocking the heavens.

The temple cracked apart, stones raining down in every direction.

Shin's face went pale.

Neither Buu was anywhere near their former level of power, yet even this skirmish was enough to reduce the entire temple to rubble.

"Stop this !"

Shin shouted desperately, rushing to intervene.

But before he could approach, a blast of invisible force hurled him back.

Whoosh!

A flash of purple light no thicker than a thumb shot past, halting the Buus' battle instantly.

Frieza blew lightly on his finger and said coldly, "Now is not the time for your squabble. Look around you."

The two Buus scanned the battlefield, then glanced at one another.

"No matter what, I'll eat you first!"

"You're weaker than me. I'll eat you instead!"

Their obsession with devouring one another reignited, tension sparking once again.

At that moment, Cooler descended onto the plaza, his face twisted with frustration. "Damn it! No matter how many fused Zamasus we destroy, it's useless!"

"What?!" Shin demanded.

Trunks, who had been watching closely, also noticed something was wrong. "These Zamasus can't be killed! Their numbers are growing even faster!"

Hearing this, Shin examined carefully and despair clouded his face.

He hated to admit it to the warriors fighting outside, but the truth was cruel.

"Every fused Zamasu clone retains the same strength as the original. Right now, their power hasn't fully returned after splitting into so many bodies…"

Frieza's eyes narrowed darkly. "But eventually, each one will climb back to full power the very peak of the original body."

Shin's voice dropped. "And worse… when one is destroyed, it simply divides again. Endlessly, without limit…"

Frieza's tone grew heavier. "If this continues, even Beerus' twin, Champa, wouldn't be enough. Unless you have a God of Destruction's special abilities, not even he could survive this."

"What…?" Shin's lips trembled. His eyes swept over the warriors outside, still fighting with everything they had. "Then… is there truly no hope left for this world?"

Before anyone could answer, the swirling vortex above the temple flared.

A colossal beam of black energy surged downward, thick as a mountain pillar, dazzlingly bright yet radiating only annihilation.

Shin's heart seized with terror.

The two Buus instantly ceased their brawl and, as if sharing the same thought, braced themselves together against the beam.

But their strength was pitifully small.

In the nick of time, Frieza stepped forward once again, straining against the cataclysmic blast.

Rumble

The temple collapsed bit by bit, but the black column never relented, pressing downward without end.

Noncombatants scrambled behind Frieza.

"Come on, Lord Frieza!" Yajirobe and the others shouted encouragement.

Frieza roared, his body trembling as he staggered backward under the weight of the attack.

Bones cracked audibly. Blood spurted from his mouth.

At last, he dropped to one knee, forcing himself to stay upright.

Dende rushed forward, healing light spilling over Frieza's battered frame.

Cooler charged beside him, conjuring a brilliant energy sphere and hurling it into the descending beam.

The black light stuttered for a moment… then pressed down harder than before.

Outside, the other warriors saw it and their hearts lurched.

They abandoned their fights, racing back toward the temple. One by one, they poured every last drop of energy into countering the beam.

"Final Flash!"

"Kamehameha!"

Even Dabura and Cooler's mechanical army added their meager strength to the effort.

Rumble

Thunder rolled across the heavens as the combined power of every fighter locked against the beam of destruction.

"Hold on no matter what!" Trankon shouted, teeth gritted.

"If we fail, we all die here!"

All their strength, all their hope, focused on this one desperate stand.

But even as they struggled, the countless fused Zamasu clones grew stronger by the second.

That monster's power, last time, had already exceeded Frieza and Cooler.

Now every single clone would reach that level.

How could they possibly win?

Everyone's hearts sank. Breath caught in their throats.

They had long prepared for death, yet facing it head-on still left a bitter taste of unwillingness.

Trunks exhaled a heavy sigh. "If only Levos and my mother were here… They always brought hope. They'd find a way to save us."

Shin's lips curved in a pained smile. "It's barely been three minutes. How could Levos possibly be whole again so soon?"

Then he turned to Kibito. "Kibito, can you still use Instant Transmission?"

Kibito nodded gravely. "Barely. My mental energy has only recovered enough for two uses… and I can't take too many people at once."

Shin's eyes flickered. After a long pause, he spoke heavily. "Kibito… our chances are slim. Take some of them and escape to the Elder's realm. Protect the Old Kai at all costs."

The implication was clear.

The Supreme Kai Realm itself might not survive this day.

The only hope of reviving the divine order lay with the Old Kai.

Kibito clenched his fists. If he stayed, he would only die pointlessly. If he lived, at least vengeance and salvation might still be possible.

But before he could answer, a calm voice entered his mind.

"No, Kibito. I need you to bring the Old Kai… and Bulma, and the others… here."
