"He’s my ex-boyfriend. Three years ago, I dumped him," Alice Conley replied.
After ending the call, Mabel Quinn was still a bit disoriented. Unexpectedly, Dorian Howards turned out to be Alice Conley’s boyfriend from her freshman year, and Alice, who had always been attracted to good looks, actually dumped such a handsome guy?!
It’s really unclear what happened between the two of them back then.
While thinking about this, suddenly a colleague from the scriptwriting team came over to call Mabel, saying the director wanted to see her.
When Mabel arrived at the director’s room, she saw that Lillian Scott, who played the second female lead, was also there. Lillian was complaining, "Director, it’s not that I’m acting poorly; it’s that the script isn’t written well, it’s contradictory. One moment it says my character is too scared to confess and wants to hide her love, the next it says she wants to confess. How am I supposed to handle this?"
When the director saw Mabel come in, he said, "Mabel, you heard what Lillian just said, so just revise the script a bit."
"But the script content has already been reviewed and approved by the editor-in-chief and the script reviewers. There are no contradictions," Mabel said.
"Ah, sometimes scripts need to be modified a bit for the actors’ performances. Let’s settle it this way." the director said.
So Mabel felt it was inappropriate to say anything more. After leaving the room, Lillian shot Mabel a cold look and said, "You’re not happy about revising the script? Scripts written by small-time writers like you are just holding back the actors."
After Lillian walked away, a fellow screenwriter said to Mabel, "This Lillian Scott is the daughter of the Scott Family. She’s quite spoiled and, seeing you as a small-time writer, she obviously thinks you’re easy to bully. She blames your script for her own poor acting. If our editor-in-chief had written this script, would she still dare to demand a rewrite?"
Mabel smiled. No matter when, such things are always present. In the future, she would earn her respect with her own skills!
In the Corporation’s office, Kyle Kinston lazily raised his eyes, looking at Dorian Howards, who had come specifically to see him, "You came to see me just to ask about Alice Conley?"
"She and your lady friend seem to be getting along well; you must know something about her," Dorian said.
"I do know a little, but not much," Kyle said, "And what about you, what’s your relationship with her? You’re not the kind to kindly drive strangers home."
"I dated her three years ago," Dorian said. He knew that even if he didn’t mention it now, Kyle would undoubtedly find out soon enough.
"And then, you dumped her?"
"She dumped me," Dorian said through gritted teeth, still harboring grudges over the breakup three years ago. It was the first time in his life he’d been dumped by a woman, especially one who had nothing in terms of money or looks—a plain beanpole of a woman at that. How could he swallow such an insult?
Hearing that, Kyle was a bit surprised, looking at his friend with newfound interest, "That’s rare."
Dorian felt the urge to punch Kyle’s face, but thinking about Kyle’s strength, he refrained.
"All I know is that Alice has a boyfriend. Yesterday she got drunk because of him. I’ve seen her boyfriend once before—a pretty average guy, nothing special," Kyle shared what he knew.
