Dorian Howards pursed his lips, showing a somewhat disapproving expression, though the look in his eyes told a different story. "By the way, that day is coming up in a couple of days, you’ll be going back to Falling City, right? How about I accompany you?" He changed the subject.
"No need, I’m used to going alone." Kyle Kinston’s smile faded, his face like it was covered with ice, bringing forth an unreachable feeling.
Dorian Howards sighed inwardly; every time this topic came up, his friend would react this way. Even after so many years, it was still a taboo subject for him. "So you won’t bring Mabel Quinn either? After all, she is your lifeline, and logically, she should go take a look."
Kyle Kinston raised his eyebrows, his dark eyes showing no light, "The matter of the Kinston Family’s lifeline, I never intended to tell Mabel, so you’d better pretend you don’t know it either."
Dorian Howards was shocked, "Why not tell her? Aren’t you and she already..."
"Why should I tell her?" Kyle Kinston interrupted his friend, "I never intended to let my lifeline be controlled by another person!"
At dinner, Mabel Quinn asked Kyle Kinston, "Did you know that Alice and Dorian used to be a couple?"
"Just found out today." Kyle Kinston replied.
"I only knew that Alice had a boyfriend in her freshman year and they broke up not long after. I didn’t realize it was Dorian." Mabel Quinn said. However, Dorian Howards also has the surname Howards, which is not very common, and since he came from Falling City, he’s likely the cousin of Francine Howards, whom Lyra Grant mentioned as Kyle’s childhood acquaintance.
Because Kyle also mentioned that Francine Howards is his friend’s cousin.

"What are you thinking about?" Kyle Kinston’s voice suddenly rang out.
"Nothing." Mabel Quinn replied.
"I’ll be going to Falling City in a couple of days, spending the night there, and returning the next day." Kyle Kinston said.
"Going back to Falling City?" She was a bit surprised.
He pressed his lips lightly, "Got some things to handle." he said, without going into detail. In fact, he didn’t need to tell her about going to Falling City at all; he could easily use an excuse of sleeping at the corporation dormitory. Yet somehow, he told her anyway.
"Oh." Mabel Quinn responded, "Then let me know you’re safe when you get to Falling City. Speaking of which, Falling City’s temples are quite famous. They say that many people in Falling City are Buddhists, so the temples are very prosperous. Falling City also has the largest golden Buddha statue in the country. I’d love to see it in person someday."
