"That golden Buddha statue was cast by the Kinston Family," Kyle Kinston said. "If you want to see it, when you visit Falling City in the future, you can see it anytime."
Mabel Quinn nearly spat out her food. "The Kinston Family made it?" That could almost be considered a major symbol of Falling City. Mabel had even seen it on some TV programs and didn’t expect it to be related to the Kinston Family.
"Is it strange? The Kinston Family has built quite a few Buddha statues and temples over the generations," Kyle Kinston said.
"So does the Kinston Family believe in Buddhism?" she speculated.
"No." He replied indifferently.
"Then why does the Kinston Family build Buddha statues and temples? Is it to win people’s hearts?"
"The people of the Kinston Family never actually care about winning hearts," Kyle Kinston said faintly, with a hint of sarcasm at the corner of his lips. "It’s just that in moments of despair, they always hope for a bit of hope. Although they don’t believe in Buddhism, they still hope that Buddha exists, so perhaps they can gain a little mercy."
Mercy? Mabel Quinn found that word so unfitting when used on the Kinston Family.
"What? You believe?" He noticed her thoughts from her expression.
"I just think the Kinston Family is so powerful that they don’t need any mercy." The word mercy should be used on those poor families, after all.
"Sometimes, the stronger you are, the more vulnerable you may become. The people of the Kinston Family aren’t as strong as you imagine." Otherwise, there wouldn’t be so many memorial tablets for those who died young in the Kinston Family’s Ancestral Hall.

Mabel Quinn looked at the food in front of Kyle Kinston. It seemed that he hadn’t eaten much at all tonight.
Mabel Quinn felt that ever since Kyle Kinston mentioned returning to Falling City, his mood had seemed somewhat odd. He often stayed in the study and had been eating less these past two days.
"Mabel, there’s something wrong with Lillian Scott again. She keeps getting stopped by the director, and she says it’s because of your script. The director wants you to go over there." The director’s assistant ran over and dragged Mabel Quinn to the filming site.
Lillian Scott was having a tantrum, constantly saying the script was bad. Even though it was revised, it still didn’t feel right.
As soon as Mabel Quinn arrived on set, everyone’s eyes were immediately focused on her.
"Alright, Mabel is here. Lillian, why don’t you communicate with Mabel?" the director said.
Lillian Scott looked displeased and said to Mabel Quinn, "Didn’t I ask you to revise the script last time? Why is it still such a mess? How am I supposed to act with this?"
Clearly, Lillian Scott was trying to shift all the blame for the poor performance onto Mabel Quinn.
Mabel Quinn said, "I’ve already revised the script and showed it to you. You didn’t express any objections at the time."
"What do you mean by that? Are you saying I can’t act well?" Lillian Scott said angrily, then turned to the director and said, "Director, since she said that, let her act it out then. She wrote the script, she should be able to act it, right? Why don’t she act it out for me so I can understand how to perform it!"
No one expected Lillian Scott to say something like that. Letting a junior scriptwriter act? Must be a joke.
