Alice Conley was astounded, staring at the handsome face gradually enlarging before her, with a hint of disorientation. Once, she loved this man so much, believing she was incredibly fortunate, that the person she fell in love with for the first time also loved her. The greatest fortune in life is nothing more than this, right.
But later, she realized how naive she was, that a lot of luck might not outweigh a single misfortune.

Suddenly, a warm touch on her lips caused her pupils to shrink sharply. His face was already so close, his lips gently pressing against hers.
Her mind went blank, almost instinctively pushing him away, then she stumbled out of the CEO’s office. As she ran out of the building, the cold wind outside brought her back to her senses.
The warmth of his lips still lingered on hers, as if telling her that her relationship with him had become even more complicated.
In the CEO’s office, Dorian Howards watched the tiny black figure standing outside the building through the floor-to-ceiling window on one side of his office. He would not let her hide for too long; even if she pretended to be indifferent, he wanted her heart to have a place for him!
Mabel Quinn looked at Alice Conley, who had asked her out shopping but was clearly distracted, and said, "What’s wrong? Didn’t you say you wanted to buy some new clothes? Yet you don’t seem to be looking at the clothes."
Alice Conley sighed and decided to be straightforward, "The studio I’m working at was acquired by Dorian Howards."
Mabel Quinn was taken aback. She had heard of Alice Conley getting a screenwriter position at a newly established studio, but a major company like Howards Group acquiring that kind of studio seemed unlikely, especially Alice’s.
"Is it because of you?" Mabel Quinn speculated.
Alice Conley touched her nose, somewhat embarrassed, "If I say yes, wouldn’t that make me seem a bit too self-indulgent?"
Mabel Quinn asked seriously, "Then what do you plan to do?"
"What else can I do? Since we broke up back then, now there’s even less reason to be involved." Alice Conley shrugged.
"Have you really let go of that relationship?" Mabel Quinn asked, recalling how attentive Dorian Howards was towards her friend at the banquet, and how her friend... didn’t seem entirely unaffected either.
Alice Conley took a deep breath, smiled self-mockingly, and said to Mabel Quinn, "Mabel, sometimes I’m really envious of you. You don’t have to worry about anything and be with Kyle Kinston, but I can never be like you."
"What are you worried about?" Mabel Quinn pressed.
"Forget it, let’s not talk about my stuff anymore. How about you? How is the shooting of the movie you’re involved in going lately?" Alice Conley changed the subject.
Mabel Quinn could see her friend’s intention and followed along with her topic, "It’s going okay, the shooting is going pretty smoothly." After Lillian Scott’s casting change, no one in the crew troubled her anymore, although Daniel Harris hadn’t come to the crew recently.
As the two were chatting, Mabel Quinn suddenly squinted her eyes and saw a big dog outside wagging its tail at her through the floor-to-ceiling glass.
