Mabel Quinn submitted her resignation letter at Morningstar. Since she had already notified the editor-in-chief and supervisor beforehand and mentioned it to Lilith, her resignation didn’t come as much of a surprise to the office.
The editor-in-chief called her into the office and said, "Even if you’re leaving Morningstar, I hope you continue to create. Of course, I know your current boyfriend is Mr. Jun, but I don’t want you to lose some of your own shine because of love."
"No matter what happens in the future, I think I’ll still choose to be a scriptwriter, to create more great scripts," Mabel said, as this was truly the profession she loved, and she was prepared to strive for it for a lifetime.
The editor-in-chief nodded in satisfaction and talked with Mabel about the current state of the screenwriting industry, giving her some advice on her future creative path.
Mabel was very grateful for this. In her view, the editor-in-chief was a very fair person, willing to share his experience with younger generations to help them avoid detours.
She could feel that the editor-in-chief genuinely cared for her well-being.
After finishing her conversation with the editor-in-chief, as Mabel was about to leave, the editor-in-chief suddenly said, "The book ’Sound of the Wind’ was actually written by you, wasn’t it?"
Mabel looked at the editor-in-chief in shock.
The editor-in-chief smiled, "There were rumors online back then that the true author of that book wasn’t Lyra Grant but someone else. I’m the editor-in-chief; I’ve read both your script drafts and Lyra’s. The so-called writing style may sound abstract, but it’s unique to a single author. Even if someone imitates it, they can’t replicate the essence. When I read your script, I often feel as if that’s what the original author should have written."
Mabel was stunned, not expecting the editor-in-chief to see through the clues from this.
"Did I guess wrong?" the editor-in-chief asked.
Facing this supervisor who had once handled the plagiarism incident between her and Lyra fairly, Mabel didn’t want to deceive him, "Yes, ’Sound of the Wind’ was indeed written by me. Lyra took it and published it as her own work. When I claimed authorship, not many people believed me," Mabel said.
Upon hearing this, the editor-in-chief patted Mabel on the shoulder and said, "Then make yourself strong enough to become a great screenwriter so that when you say this book or script was written by you, no one will doubt it."
