Facing an Ancient God for a Year Chapter 491

Chapter 491: Chapter 491 Old Haunts_1 Chapter 491: Chapter 491 Old Haunts_1 “This can be easily arranged, leave it to us.”

As expected, Xiao Zhi’s previously dim eyes instantly brightened.

Having perhaps unintentionally caused a mishap, she naturally seized the chance to make amends.

Of course, she didn’t believe Chief Yuan would really trouble her over such a matter, but out of respect, it was only right to offer some assistance within her means.

“To what extent is necessary?”

The middle-aged man seemed to cherish the opportunity to make amends for his wrongdoing.

“No need for anything troublesome, just ensure he can’t keep following me.”

Fu Qian’s attitude was quite forgiving.

“I don’t want anything to affect this operation.”

The middle-aged man nodded in comprehension and exchanged a look with Xiao Zhi.

The next moment, both rose almost simultaneously and headed toward Brother Grey Hat.

The latter had been watching them without doubt, so he became alert almost instantaneously.

However, his combat readiness disintegrated in seconds when Miss Xiao Zhi flashed a peculiar-shaped badge.

Just as expected, there was no conflict.

As an observer, Fu Qian nodded silently on the side.

Although Brother Grey Hat’s strength was likely on par with either of them, in Fu Qian’s view, the fight would never happen.

Once the two revealed their identities, even if Brother Grey Hat had eight hundred guts, he wouldn’t dare to act.

This was the clout of the Night Watchman.

After a brief exchange, the three stood up together and left the carriage.

Throughout, Brother Grey Hat’s demeanor was exceedingly respectful, not even attempting to flee.

Considering Fu Qian’s low-key manner, it was evident the two Night Watchmen had no intention of disturbing him further.

Not until the train stopped at the destination did the three return.

Though the distance wasn’t particularly far, it was already nightfall when they disembarked.

Revisiting old haunts, given the size of Bee Monkey City, it didn’t take Fu Qian long to find a series of familiar scenes.

Yuan Shan’s information was correct, everything did seem peaceful and serene.

There was just one thing that was slightly odd.

Despite it being a dark and windy night, there were still people wandering about in pairs and threes.

Based on observations from the last mission, Bee Monkey City didn’t even seem this lively during the daytime.

Fu Qian mused and remembered as he made his way directly toward the museum.

For the present him, feeling troubled was quite difficult.

The late hour didn’t hinder his activities, and it even saved him the cost of a ticket.

The familiar outline of the museum soon came into view.

And, unsurprisingly, Fu Qian noticed that there were people who hadn’t slept here too.

Within the pitch-black museum, there actually stood a person.

And Fu Qian easily recognized him as the museum employee from his last visit, the one whose face he had torn up in the end.

Although the man’s eyes were wide open, staring at the entrance, deceiving an ordinary person was effortless for Fu Qian.

After some thought, however, Fu Qian decided not to conceal his movements and directly pushed the slightly ajar door and walked in.

“Did you buy a ticket?”

Just as expected, the employee was not in an unconscious state.

And almost the instant Fu Qian entered, he asked.

Fu Qian responded honestly, looking forward to the employee’s reaction.

“Good, but be warned, the entire museum is under surveillance.”

The employee showed a clear smile and stepped aside.

Despite lacking logic, these words felt familiar!

Fu Qian thought to himself.

During his previous missions, he had reminded himself to come with Shen Yuan.

However, it was clear that, although he wasn’t sleepwalking, his mind was still quite muddled at the moment.

The aftereffects of that peculiar nightmare?

Fu Qian thought of the group of men wandering outside.

It seemed that, even though the nightmare had dissipated, it still had a considerable psychological impact on these people.

As he contemplated, Fu Qian walked past a worker, only to see that the latter had stopped paying attention to him and was instead rubbing the right side of his face while muttering to himself.

The force with which this person rubbed his eye was so great that one could now see blood seeping out.

Well, it seems that the psychological impact has penetrated to the physical level.

Fu Qian shook his head and walked right past this person.

Soon he found the spot he remembered at the bottom of the stairs.

And the moment one foot stepped on it, Fu Qian confirmed his memory was correct—there was indeed something unusual underfoot.

Crouching down, Fu Qian tapped the floor, then applied a bit more force.

With a muffled cracking sound, one of the floor tiles was pulled straight up.

A black passage that seemed all too familiar appeared under his feet.

It looked like he was going down once more.

Fu Qian shook his head, without hesitation, he jumped right in.

And the worker who should have been watching him was still scratching his right cheek, now a bright red.

After taking a couple of steps, Fu Qian realized something.

The inner walls of the passage hadn’t changed from his memory; they were still the black stone slabs with peculiar patterns on them.

But unlike the last time, Fu Qian was now in full strength, and he could easily sense that the surrounding area was truly silent.

He reached out and touched the wall, sure enough, there were no invisible bugs present.

So, is this place now just an ordinary abandoned underground project?

Were the things mentioned in the mission just illusions?

A logical explanation, but not what he desired.

He quickly reached the bottom of the passageway,

looking at the same emptiness as last time, Fu Qian fell into thought.

The fact that there were no bugs did not particularly surprise him.

Based on his two experiences entering the Nightmare Corridor, it seemed that this bizarre existence was composed of several distinctly different forces, similar to the doors that Brother Interlocutor had shown him.

And the bugs might represent one of the more special types of these forces.

Now that the nightmare had faded, it was normal for the forces related to the Corridor to no longer be present.

Fu Qian had come here this time not to look at these things, but rather to understand the ‘why’.

Why would those bugs gather in this place?

Why was this area sealed off? What was so special about it?

These were the questions he cared about.

Of course, it seemed he might not be able to find the answers to these questions for the time being.

From any standpoint, this place was empty, showing no sign of anything unusual.

In this predicament, Fu Qian simply noted quietly to himself.

The next moment, his hand reached into his pocket, pulling out a worn notebook and a pen.

A definite, irrefutable predicament—what a waste not to use “this” here!

[I am currently inside an excavation site]

Turning to a blank page, Fu Qian wrote down the first sentence.

After waiting a moment and seeing that the writing didn’t disappear, Fu Qian satisfyingly continued with another line beneath it.

[The things that triggered the phenomena in the excavation site have been removed]

However, as if an eraser from the Void was at work, just a few seconds after writing, the line quietly vanished.
