“CEO Lorenzo, so you’re definitely placing Miss Glorian in the translation department?” Ann Nolan leaned against the table with her arms crossed, her expression indifferent.
She lightly lifted her eyelids, her cold gaze falling on CEO Lorenzo’s face.
“Is my attitude not clear enough?” CEO Lorenzo was in a bad mood.
“CEO Lorenzo,” Ann Nolan chuckled lightly, “Is Miss Glorian your friend?”
“Not to hide from you, Miss Glorian is a friend of a friend. My friend asked for help, I couldn’t possibly refuse; it’s just a small favor.”
“Yes, a small favor, that’s normal human decency. Besides, it’s just a job, right?” Ann Nolan laughed, “We are not a government agency; bringing someone in is nothing out of the ordinary. However, CEO Lorenzo, why did Miss Glorian specifically ask to join the TR translation department? Your friend could have placed her in another company’s translation department just the same, couldn’t he?”
“My friend values our relationship, that’s all!” CEO Lorenzo was very annoyed.
This Ann Nolan, she had quite the temper.
If it weren’t for Ann Nolan’s usual diligence, high efficiency, and outstanding performance, he wouldn’t bother arguing with her.
“CEO Lorenzo, let me talk to Miss Glorian,” Ann Nolan said flatly.
“There’s no need to talk, Miss Glorian only wants to join the translation department and won’t budge. Besides, she graduated from a foreign language department, suitable for the translation department. Ann, you don’t know Miss Glorian well, I see no need for a chat.”
“Then, CEO Lorenzo, do you plan on processing her entry procedure tomorrow?”
“CEO Lorenzo, your friend must have great influence,” Ann Nolan said sarcastically with a smile, “enough to have you personally accompany her for a tour of TR today.”
She knew Harper Glorian came from a poor family background, her father had died early, and she had a mother who was chronically ill and bedridden.
Moreover, Harper Glorian was not from Landon, and she had no relatives there.
But it was different for CEO Lorenzo; having him personally accompany a tour must mean considerable influence?
Working in Landon for so long, she, Ann Nolan, could not possibly have such extensive influence and connections, let alone Harper Glorian?
The answer was clear, CEO Lorenzo’s friend was likely none other than Zaiden Santos.
This explained everything.
“When a friend asks, naturally I must do the host’s duty,” CEO Lorenzo said indifferently, “So, what do you think, Ann, do you understand?”
“There’s nothing to understand or not understand. I disagree with Miss Glorian joining the translation department. It’s a matter of principle,” Ann Nolan stated firmly and forcefully.
Even without those tangled personal grudges, she would not agree to Harper Glorian coming aboard.
She was well aware of Harper Glorian’s modest level of knowledge.
In college, she hadn’t focused much on studying, always researching which lipstick color looked good or which brand of foundation didn’t wear off.
“Ann, I thought you were a reasonable person, but I didn’t expect you to be so unwilling to give face. Since that’s the case, I don’t need to give you face either.”
CEO Lorenzo lost his temper, having talked to Ann Nolan for so long without any result.
He swung his hand, ready to walk out.
It was just meant to be a heads-up to Ann Nolan, but he hadn’t expected her to be so unreasonable.
In the company, he was the boss, the CEO!
He had the final say!
“Let me talk to Miss Glorian.” Ann Nolan spoke up.
“Miss Glorian is shy, she probably wouldn’t want to talk to you!” CEO Lorenzo said as he opened the office door.
