Chapter 843: Chapter 843: Are You Going to Argue with Me Endlessly?
Outside the door, Harper Glorian was idly chatting with Little Kaisan, not having gone too far.
As the office door swung open, they both turned to look at the entrance.
Little Kaisan, seeing CEO Lorenzo’s unhappy expression, knew that the conversation might have failed.
“Little Glorian, let’s go, I’ll take you around some more. You haven’t been to our company’s gym yet, have you?” CEO Lorenzo stepped forward, “I’ll show you around, and you can exercise there in the future.”
“Sure, thank you CEO Lorenzo, so can I start the job tomorrow?” Harper blinked, smiling.
“Yes, I’ll take you to the HR department to check in.”
“Thank you, CEO Lorenzo, I’m very grateful.”
“No need to thank me, it’s our company that’s gaining from having you join us, a strong and capable new member!” CEO Lorenzo grinned broadly.
“Then I’ll prepare the materials when I get back. CEO Lorenzo, I will work earnestly and won’t disappoint your expectations,” Harper replied cheerfully.
Standing to the side, Little Kaisan felt exceedingly awkward, not knowing whether to stay or leave.
Ann Nolan stepped out of the office and spoke indifferently, “Miss Glorian, I suggest you switch to another department. The translation department is very arduous, and overtime is common.”
Harper looked at Ann Nolan, her eyes conveying a sense of grievance.
“Sister Ann Nolan, I like the translation department. Overtime is not a problem. Do I not look like an employee who can handle hardship?”
“It’s not a matter of looking like, it’s just the simple truth,” Ann Nolan said bluntly.
Having Ann Nolan say this directly to her face, Harper’s complexion changed immediately—it was very unflattering, very aggrieved.
Glistening tears circled her eyes, but she bit her lip, preventing them from falling.
“I haven’t even started the job yet, Sister Ann Nolan, and you are already judging me with prejudice? Is this how the translation department welcomes newcomers? Or is this just how Sister Ann Nolan usually treats people?” Harper choked up.
Little Kaisan quickly tried to defend, “Our Sister Ann Nolan is very good to her subordinates.”
CEO Lorenzo couldn’t save face and scolded, “Ann Nolan, what’s there to fuss about? Miss Glorian is younger than you; can’t you be a bit lenient? It’s the first time you two are meeting; why make it unpleasant? Ann Nolan, can’t you give me some respect?”
This was making him lose face in front of his subordinates.
He was in a terrible mood today!
“Being young is not an excuse to act spoiled. It’s not that I’m unreasonable. Miss Glorian came here for an interview, and if she passes, I can let her join the translation department,” Ann Nolan said.
Little Kaisan mentally applauded Ann Nolan!
Exactly, if they started hiring people so carelessly, it would be a mess in the future.
“Ann Nolan, do you really think you’re the head of HR?” CEO Lorenzo raised his voice, “Arguing with me, will it ever end? I’m telling you, not just hiring someone, but even if I casually fire someone, I don’t need to provide a reason!”
CEO Lorenzo was severely warning Ann Nolan!
In other words, he could just as casually fire Ann Nolan right now, and he wouldn’t have to justify it to anyone!
And he wouldn’t need to give any reason!
“CEO Lorenzo, don’t be angry; it’s okay, no worries,” Harper consoled him, “Maybe Sister Ann Nolan has some thoughts since it’s the first time meeting me. Once I get to work and show my dedication, Sister Ann Nolan will come to like me.”
“Since you, CEO Lorenzo, insist on having someone join the translation department, then let her join. You are the boss,” Ann Nolan spoke calmly, her face unchanging, “however, to let someone join without passing the written test or interview, consider it my dereliction of duty. Since that’s the case, I request to resign.”
She couldn’t call the shots for the company, only for herself.
