Two days later, Ji Mianmian had fully recovered. Yan Qingsi was also filming the very last scene for her drama.
“Okay, that’s a wrap!”
The area flurried into a cacophony once the words left the director’s lips.
Yan Qingsi peeled herself off the ground. Red liquid still seeped through the fake blood pouch. She stood up a little too abruptly, and a wave of dizziness swept over her. She massaged her temples for a while, waiting for her dizziness to subside before straightening herself.
A chocolate bar appeared before her eyes. Yan Qingsi jerked her head upwards in shock. Song Qingyan’s face greeted her.
“Your blood sugar must be low after not eating for a long time. Have some chocolate.”
Yan Qingsi smiled. “Thank you.”
Song Qingyan watched as Yan Qingsi ripped the wrapper apart and broke off a piece of chocolate, popping it into her mouth. She was not like other actresses when she ate, who were dainty and demure in motion.
Some of the crew celebrated the end of the final shooting, while others hugged the director. Only they stood there, speaking in quiet tones, cocooned in their own world.
Their assistants stood by their sides and fanned them, but did not disturb them.
Song Qingyan took the umbrella from his assistant and held it over Yan Qingsi’s head. “Would you be interested in starring in my very first feature film? I’ll leave the role of the leading lady open for you.”
Yan Qingsi was stunned. “Surely you don’t have a lack of actresses?”
“I don’t have a lack of actresses. I lack leading ladies like you.” Song Qingyan had heard from Qin Jingzhi that Yan Qingsi was a skilled actress. He had assumed that it was only because her character in “Beauty’s Rival in Palace” had Yan Qingsi’s personality, and thus she was able to bring Consort Zhao’s despicable nature to life.
However, after shooting “The Scent of Her”, Qin Jingzhi’s sentiments towards Yan Qingsi as a skilled actress were proven to be true. Additionally, she did not convey any trace that she was merely acting during the filming process— it all flowed naturally from her.
Song Qingyan admired this sort of actresses.
“I’m truly grateful for the opportunity,” Yan Qingsi said with a smile on her face. “Still… I’d like to see the script first.”
“Of course. I’ll send the softcopy of the script to you.”
“Sure…”
A phone rang. Ji Mianmian saw that the caller was her boss and hurriedly thrust it towards Yan Qingsi. “Sis, boss is calling.”
The corners of Yan Qingsi’s lips lifted. Yue Tingfeng would be given a slap if he did not call her after he knew that today would be her last shooting.
“Yes?” Yan Qingsi asked.
“Have you finished shooting?”
“Mmhmm…”
She thought that Yue Tingfeng would congratulate her, but…
“Why are you still cozying up to a man under the sun if you’re done with your shoot? What are you two talking about? Did you forget that you have a boyfriend? Aren’t you afraid that your boyfriend won’t want you if you get so tanned that you become ugly?”
Yan Qingsi’s eyes widened when she heard that. What the h*ck! How did you know that I’m talking to a man under the sun?
She scanned her surroundings. Yan Qingsi spotted a familiar silhouette amidst the crowd. The smile on her face widened. “My boyfriend’s here,” she told Song Qingyan. “I’ll be going off first. Thank you for your offer, and I’m grateful that you’ve noticed me. I’ll definitely consider the role if the script looks good.”
Yan Qingsi waved at Song Qingyan, then turned around and dashed towards the crowd. Ji Mianmian chased after her.
Song Qingyan watched as Yan Qingsi flitted effortlessly past the crowd like a bird. She flew right into that man’s embrace. Her smile was only that blinding when she was with that person.
Yue Tingfeng flung his arms out wide, catching the silhouette barreling straight into him. He held a bouquet of cornflowers to welcome Yan Qingsi; her face grew more radiant.
The smile on Yan Qingsi’s face seemed to express the meaning of cornflowers– I have found my happiness!
