Miss Mai patted Yan Qingsi. “Ptui! What brainwash? I didn’t know the boss’ nature then. But even a fool can see it after such a long time—he’s not one of those playboys. He’s genuine. I’ve never seen a man being like this toward a woman. With his status, don’t you think… he would never let you step over him the way you do if he was just fooling around?”
When Miss Mai first met Yue Tingfeng, he had been unapproachable, detached, as though he did not think anything of anyone. She had thought that he was no different from those young tycoons who loved to fool around with female celebrities.
That was why she had advised Yan Qingsi that she should not take any word from a man seriously. If she wanted her career in acting to go far, she could not love. Love made a person unable to progress; it made a person lose the will to fight.
However, as the days passed by, Miss Mai watched as Yue Tingfeng changed himself for the sake of Yan Qingsi. He had changed so much that she almost could not believe it herself. This was a completely different man from the one she had first met.
Miss Mai had known Yan Qingsi for so many years. She understood how Yan Qingsi had struggled and clawed her way up. She also knew how much bitterness and pain Yan Qingsi harbored in her heart.
That was why she, more than anyone, wanted Yan Qingsi to have someone she could call home, to be happy.
Yan Qingsi smiled as she listened. She knew that Miss Mai was saying this for her own good. She took it all sincerely.
Yan Qingsi did not make a single peep at Miss Mai’s words. “You just see which female celebrity in the entertainment industry doesn’t crack their head to marrying someone wealthy,” Miss Mai said hastily, “You better treasure what you have.”
Miss Mai gestured around her. “Look. So many young maidens around here all have their eyes on your man,” she said, “If he wasn’t my boss, I would probably be devising ways to make him one of my artists. He’s a rare find—so handsome! Oh… too bad.”
“What’s too bad?” Yan Qingsi asked callously.
“Too bad that he’s already fallen into your trap,” Miss Mai replied, “I can’t save him now.”
Yan Qingsi was stunned for a moment, then she grinned. “You’re right,” she laughed. “He’s fallen into my trap. No way you can save him…”
“Why not?”
“Because… I have no intention of letting him go!”

Miss Mai’s laughter rang out from the table beside Yue Tingfeng. He raised his head. “Are you done talking?” he asked.
Yan Qingsi nodded. “Yep. We’re about to leave.”
“Boss, Qingsi’s dramas are entering their promotion period,” Miss Mai said quickly. “I’m thinking…”
“If it’s about money, just talk to Jiang Lai.”
“All right, all right…” Miss Mai said with a meek tone.
Yan Qingsi flashed a quick smile. “Miss Mai, we’ll take our leave first,” she said.
“The boss has worked so hard,” Miss Mai said when she heard that. “See you, Boss.”
Yan Qingsi was speechless.
Was she trying to get on her boss’s good books? Was that why she said all that?
She wore her mask and cap and exited the place. A camera protruded out of a car passing by outside. It was directed toward them. Yue Tingfeng walked over and knocked on the car door. “Remember what my girlfriend said,” he told the person.
The paparazzi guy inside was unruffled even after being told off. Instead, he grinned. “I remember, all right,” he said, “I’ll be sure to pixelate your man.”
Yan Qingsi clung onto Yue Tingfeng. “I see that it’s not easy for you, staying up so late just for work,” she said to the paparazzi guy. “Take your picture.”
She kissed Yue Tingfeng after she finished her sentence.
