She couldn’t help but wonder. How could Evelyn even suggest something like that?
"What kind of rotten idea is this?" Nia asked.
"How is this a rotten idea? My brother Maxwell might actually love it," Evelyn retorted.
As the saying goes, a sister knows her brother best. If Maxwell Peary heard Evelyn’s words right now, he would undoubtedly be nodding enthusiastically. Absolutely! That would be a future perk for me!
"That *is* a rotten idea," Nia countered. "What if I buy him a gift later? Wouldn’t that cheer him up a bit?"
Nia Mitchell’s dark eyes sparkled. This method is much better. It’s simple, easy to do, and not embarrassing.
"My brother doesn’t like people giving him things, and he doesn’t lack anything," Evelyn said. She mused silently, Besides, if Nia buys him something, isn’t she still using his money? Then again, a thought struck her: Nia is special to Maxwell.
"Actually, that might not be true," Evelyn then said aloud. "If *you’re* the one giving it to him, he might be especially surprised and happy."
Nia didn’t quite grasp what Evelyn meant by that. Still, giving a gift can’t be a mistake. With this in mind, she began to ponder. What would be a good gift?
Upon reaching the most bustling street in Capital Town, Evelyn found a parking spot. Then, she and Nia Mitchell set off on foot.
"Sister-in-law," Evelyn began, "I saw a bag the other day that I absolutely loved. It’s gorgeous, but I haven’t had the money to buy it." Evelyn stuck out her tongue playfully. But since Big Brother is treating us today, I can finally get it! "Come on, let’s go take a look together! You can buy one too."
Evelyn pulled Nia Mitchell along, making a few turns before they entered a store.
"Welcome, Miss Peary."
Nia followed Evelyn into the store. She had seen this shop before but had never stepped inside. This isn’t a place I can afford.
"Mm, no need to . We’ll just look around on our own," Evelyn said to the staff. Evelyn was clearly a regular customer and knew the place exceptionally well.
The store was brilliantly lit. Upscale gold and white tones dominated the entire space. This created an atmosphere of sophisticated elegance that immediately signaled its exclusivity. It was a Swiss-brand Pastry Shop. Nia didn’t recognize a single word of the brand name, so she could only look at the styles of the bags.
"Sister-in-law, let me show you the bag I was talking about," Evelyn said with a smile, leading Nia over. The bag was uniquely chic and exquisitely crafted, exuding elegance with a subtle hint of playfulness. A romantic tassel adorned the clasp, making one instinctively want to reach out and examine it more closely.
"It’s beautiful," Nia commented.
This bag suited Evelyn perfectly. It possessed a mature poise without being old-fashioned, fitting her age well.

Every bag in this Pastry Shop was one-of-a-kind. Each design came in only two colors, and there was only one of each specific model. No need to worry about seeing someone else with the same bag, Evelyn thought. That’s what I love most about this place.
Nia glanced at the price tag and inwardly gasped. That’s far too expensive!
"No, thank you. I already have a bag," Nia said with a smile, gesturing to the one she was currently carrying.
"Oh, just buy it! This one really suits you. Just try it on," Evelyn urged. Before Nia could refuse, Evelyn had already taken the bag down and pressed it into her arms. "Just try it on! Look, they have a men’s section over there. Do you want to get one for my brother too?"
Nia found it hard to refuse. Clutching the bag, she turned and headed towards the men’s section, letting Evelyn continue browsing on her own.
