Yara Reagan suddenly looked up.
"Are you saying, Officer Young?" Yara’s voice was a bit excited, "Is he, is he awake now?"
"In a sense, yes. He’s not like before, where he remembered nothing and just repeated the same few phrases every day. He can recall most things now, except for the very distant past, which he can’t remember."
Gene Young said, somewhat embarrassed, "The caregivers told me this. My current condition... I can’t drive, and I can’t go far, so I haven’t been able to visit him."

When he went in to shower after dinner, Gene Young had just taken off his clothes when he heard a knock on the bathroom door.
Gene Young’s heart clenched, and he stammered for the rare occasion, "Who’s, what, what’s going on?"
"It’s me, Iris Lockwood," Iris’s voice sounded, full of concern, "Officer Young, are you going to take a shower? Is it convenient?"
Gene Young blushed furiously.
Even if he said it wasn’t convenient, would she come in to help?
"I’m fine," Gene Young said helplessly and awkwardly.
Iris listened outside the door but still felt worried.

Just as she was about to ask again, Yara came in and gently pulled Iris away.
"Please," Yara gave Iris an exasperated look, "isn’t he embarrassed? You’re a woman going in to help him bathe, is that necessary?"
Iris realized belatedly, laughed dryly, "Oh, I didn’t think that far... I’ve always considered police officers like unsexed beings since I was young..."
