“You don’t count; your transfer is only of thoughts, at most a thought projection, not kind,” Negris said.
Luther suddenly spoke up hesitantly, “Lord Nage, I once read about a type of plant called the Tree of Ten Thousand Realms in a Knight novel. Each of its branches could grow a fruit, and each fruit contained a world. Isn’t that similar to this?”
“You believe in stuff from Knight novels?” Negris curled his lip. “Then shouldn’t this be called the Tree of Ten Thousand Realms instead of the Heaven-Reaching Divine Tree? Can it also grow more fruits?”
The God of Life said leisurely, “I wouldn’t know about that. This is the first time I’ve come across such a plant.”
Even the God of Life hadn’t seen this type of plant before; it truly was extremely rare.
“How come you don’t know anything? How is the dimension inside the fruit used? Do you eat the fruit after picking it?” Negris looked at the God of Life with disdain and continued to ask.
“That I wouldn’t know either. Dimensions aren’t my area of expertise; you should ask the God of Knowledge. It has more knowledge,” the God of Life said slowly.
“Pfft–” Negris almost spat out a mouthful of old blood. What’s going on? How did this burly old tree also learn to talk back?
Ange walked up to the fruit and knocked on it, then swept over it with his thoughts, but couldn’t see anything.
Should he pick it? Not for now. Such irreversible actions should definitely be left till the last moment. After thinking it over, Ange reached into the Temple of Rest and when he took his hand out again, there was a statue.
The hands of the statue were joined in front of its body, in a supporting pose. Ange lifted those supporting hands to the fruit, propping it up.
“A statue of the Big Cat deity? What’s the meaning of this? Can the Big Cat’s paw stretch all the way over here? That’s way too far, isn’t it?” Negris said.
No sooner had he finished speaking than a furry paw suddenly stretched out from the statue and pressed on the fruit.
The fruit was too big to be held by one paw alone. The furry paw tapped anxiously, and then in a flash, another paw reached out from the statue as well.
This was unprecedented, truly unprecedented! Both paws extending out was something the big cat had never done before.
However, the fruit was still too large to be embraced by two paws, and there was no way it could be dragged into the statue. The big cat became anxious, firmly gripping the fruit and suddenly lunging forward–poof!–even its head stretched through.
The big cat, with its head extended, struggled fiercely. It wriggled and shook violently and managed to squeeze out through the tiny opening, ecstatically embracing the fruit, its entire body wrapped around it.
The big cat nuzzling the fruit with its head showed a blissful smile, just like a wild cat that had caught a big fish. Then it opened its mouth wide, about to bite down on the fruit.
But before its mouth could touch the fruit, a large hand clamped down on the back of its neck, sealing its fate.
PS: Yesterday’s chapter was free, but it seems like the free ones don’t count towards the update word count. I have to write an extra chapter, otherwise, I’ll have to use a leave pass, which is disappointing.
