Fortunate to Have You This Lifetime Chapter 782

Chapter 782: Chapter 782: The Best_1

“You look the best,” Alexander Summers said, “no matter who you are, ‘you’ are always the best-looking in my eyes.”

She was always the best in his eyes.

As if she were some kind of treasure, worth all the scheming and snatching, even to the point of defying fate.

Purple Summers lowered her eyelids, the thick long lashes hiding the emotions at the bottom of her eyes, noticing that she had gotten the math problem wrong just now.

“Smooth talker,” she murmured softly, crossing out the wrong answer twice and starting to rearrange the formulas to calculate again.

In fact, upon closer thought, she felt bewildered, not understanding what charm she possessed that made Alexander look at her differently.

She considered herself just an ordinary person; if she had to say what was different, maybe it was that she worked harder than her peers, but could “hard work” also be considered a charm?

Suzanne Saunders was not an orphan. Her father had passed away early, and her mother was busy with work, so she had lived at her grandmother’s house since childhood, with hardly any memories of her parents. Later, her mother met a foreign man, captivated by her mother’s Eastern charm, he pursued her ardently, and her mother then remarried overseas, never to be heard from again.

Before leaving, her mother left some money for her grandmother, who had her own savings and pension, so the life that Suzanne and her grandmother led was not too destitute, but she still felt like a burden.

She always worked hard, wanting to prove that she was useful, not a burden.

The work of a prosecutor gave her an unexpected sense of achievement and satisfaction, making her feel valuable. After that, marrying Nathaniel Summers was a natural progression.

If it weren’t for Alexander, her life would have been smooth and fulfilling, right?

However, there is no such thing as “if” in the world, only reality.

The reality was that she had accepted the fantasy garden Alexander had created for her, pretending not to see the poisonous insects and skeletons hidden beneath the fertile flower soil and deceitfully enjoying his love.

This was actually very despicable…

For the first time, she saw so clearly and profoundly the dark corner of her own heart. She also understood why there was a faint sense of loss when she married Nathaniel.

What she was longing for was not a suitable marriage partner, but a unique love companion—one who would not be forgotten because of death, nor abandoned because of uselessness. Just like her grandmother, to love her wholeheartedly, everything she did was for her, losing her would mean losing all hope in life.

This thought was selfish and crazy, carrying an unrealistic absurdity and fantasy, too shameful to tell others, the darkest and most shameful hope in her heart.

And now, she finally had it.

At that thought, Purple Summers’ heart fluttered, she put down her pen, leaned in close to Alexander, and kissed his lips.

Purple Summers’ initiation gave Alexander the illusion that he was being taken advantage of. He was bewildered for a moment, but quickly became immersed.

The firelight reflected their entangled figures, their temples rubbing against each other, cozy and warm, with a sweet and sticky fragrance silently flowing through the air.

After it ended, Alexander still felt it wasn’t enough. He pressed his forehead against hers forcefully and said, “I love you.”

These three words were not often spoken by Alexander.

In fact, he had said more roguish things, always very informal.

But whenever he said “I love you,” Purple Summers felt those three words warm her heart, causing her heart to flutter like a frightened deer.

“Do you love me?” Alexander asked.

Purple Summers felt embarrassed, the answer in her heart perhaps said hundreds of times, but hard to say out loud.

“You’ve been so idle lately…” Purple Summers dodged the question, her head bowed, her fingers rhythmically flicking his chest, changing the topic, “Staying at home with me every day, not going out… Is there no issue with the Howard Family anymore?”

When Alexander was busy, she felt uneasy, and now that he had time to relax, she harbored hidden worries.
