'Drip drip drip drip!'
The soft sound of the water dripping on the floor woke Tang Li up. Her eyelashes fluttered as she squinted her eyes trying to adjust her vision that seemed to be blurred.
Soon, the memories of what happened earlier flashed in her mind. Earlier when she was looking for Mo Yuhan along with Si Xiu, the lights in the section that they were standing inside flickered all of a sudden.
As she recalled the situation in her mind, she was sure that there were not many people in that corridor.
But the last thing that she knew before losing consciousness was that she smelled a typical scent in the air, it made her feel as if her nose and throat was burning, even her vision got weaker, her limbs were numb when she heard a shriek.
She recognized that voice. It was her secretary. In an attempt to help the woman, she was walking towards the source of the voice when the tiles below their feet squeaked and slid open as if they were connected to some sort of mechanism.
"Si XiuArgh" The pain in her body shoots up rendering her immobile almost instantly, it must be the effect of falling from a height. She attempted to sit up but her body felt numb, "Si Xiu, are you here?"
Tang Li tilted her head towards the other direction but she couldn't see her, all that came to her view were long dark walls, the dim lighting shining on the surface.
She pushed herself to her feet and gritting her teeth, she placed her hand on the wall to endure the sudden painful tremor that spread through her body.
Ignoring the pain, she walked along the straight path, trying to find her secretary but the path was not linear. Just when she thought she hit the dead end, her attention was diverted towards the hedges and turfs.
"This is a maze" Her eyes widened in realization. She glanced at her wristwatch. It has been more than one hour since she is trapped here.
She remembered that Si Xiu was here with her, which means she must be somewhere in the maze. Is she unconscious too? She would not be surprised considering the strong gas that she had smelled in the air? At that time, her throat had felt like it was on fire.
She inhaled a few deep breathes before stretching and flexing her arms. It felt a lot better as her muscles relaxed. Looking at the maze, she knew it would be difficult to find her secretary.
Taking off her long coat, she bit the thread with her canine teeth before removing the buttons from the coat.
She glanced around the maze, wondering if it was possible for her to jump the wall but she was not a fool to believe that it would work. The wall was high and plain, let alone climb it, she would not be able to grip it well considering how slippery it was... Unfortunately, she was not superman!
She dropped a button before moving forward, "Si Xiu?" Her throat was parched, she was thirsty, causing her voice to sound hoarse.
To some extent, Tang Li felt guilty for involving her secretary in all this. No matter how persistent she was, she should not have brought her here.
Tang Li sighed before dropping another button on her way. No matter how she moved, she would always end with three to four paths in front of her and her position will be back to square one. It went on for nearly fifteen minutes.
'Swoosh!'
Her eyes turned wide as her heart started beating faster, she turned around to look at what it was when...
"Ahhh" She stumbled when she caught sight of the enormous spider on her shoulder. It was making its way towards her neck as it moved towards her long hair.
Maybe it was her instinct, but she could tell that it was a poisonous one. The spider did not look ordinary, it was large and dark and she could spot danger in its reddish tips.
Calming the tremble in her fingers, she shook it off away from her and stepped back.
'Ssss..'
"What is that" She patted her chest and turned around, but there was no one. Just as her back was about to hit the wall, she paused. Her head turned around so fast that she got whiplash.
She staggered backward when her gaze landed on the large pitcher plant placed in an inconspicuous corner. The poisonous spider from earlier was trapped inside its mouth.
Her face turned as white as a sheet when she realized that she was about to step on it just now.
"CoPresident, are you fine?" Si Xiu came running towards her.
Tang Li turned around to look at the woman who was panting heavily, her secretary's face was flushed as her chest rose and fell.
"Were you unconscious?" Tang Li walked towards the woman, she calmed herself down, locking away the memory of her near-death experience.
She did not dare to imagine what would have happened if she had stepped on that pitcher plant; maybe her condition would've been worse than that poisonous spider. It was possible that she would've gotten a leg amputated. She shook off her thoughts.
Si Xiu shook her head, "No, I did not inhale that gas because I held my breath when I found it weird but I did not expect the floor tiles will split open landing us in the middle of this maze. I had been looking for you but I could not find you at all"
Tang Li raised an eyebrow as she got reminded of the fact that her secretary was not an ordinary person. No matter how much weak and helpless she was showing herself to be, Tang Li was sure that she was trained.
Even she did not manage to control her breathing after sucking a mouthful of the poisonous air and she fell unconscious as soon as she landed here.
