Global Wasteland: I Obtained A Top Tier Shelter Chapter 10

The breeze fluttered, while the roars of wild beasts echoed across this wilderness.

Lin Yue gripped the Iron Spear tightly in his hand, carefully watching the endpoint of his vision.

Even though he couldn't see it, couldn't tell what was making that sound, he was certain—without a doubt, it was a beast!

On Earth, with large feline animals like tigers and lions at the forefront, they were collectively referred to as "beasts." They were not something an ordinary person could easily handle barehanded, or even with something like an Iron Spear.

In this world, with red locusts the size of large dogs, could there be tigers and lions as big as elephants?

Even in the Otherworld, there should be a normal food chain. Since there are giant locusts, it's not strange for there to be larger herbivores or carnivores.

Lin Yue gripped the Iron Spear and kept stepping back, vigilant of his surroundings.

Even if he possessed a sharp and lethal Iron Spear, he was not quite at a skill level where he could rashly trace the source of the roars. That would be akin to delivering takeout to the beast.

No need to take unnecessary risks.

Lin Yue didn't think there was a need to be overly cautious now, but venturing out recklessly in the current situation would be foolish.

Yet just when Lin Yue had retreated nearly a hundred steps or so, the spine-chilling roar suddenly ceased abruptly, falling completely silent.

Lin Yue couldn't speculate. He knew today didn't seem suitable for exploring further outward.

Clutching the Iron Spear, he turned to meticulously search for mutated creatures like the small bugs and lizards from before.

Whether it was due to luck or coincidence, this time it didn't take him long to find six small lizards grouped together.

The experience from multiple successful hunts meant Lin Yue didn't miss even one this time, and six treasure chests soon appeared in his inventory.

This did not satisfy Lin Yue.

He kept an eye on the direction from which the sound had come earlier, carefully searching for any anomalies.

The number of treasure chests was still insufficient.

He needed more food and more water.

Although the chance for a treasure chest drop was one hundred percent, honestly speaking, the small number made this advantage practically useless.

Always living on the edge was tolerable for the initial few days, but come disaster, such scarce resource reserves could be a death sentence, especially the kind that confines you indoors for days!

Looking up at the sky, the sun was still high. There was still plenty of time for him to hunt mutated creatures.

Lin Yue exhaled, wiped the sweat off his face, and continued searching while expanding his search range.

He drank when thirsty, nibbled on bread when hungry, and rested in the shelter when tired.

With Lin Yue persistently searching, by sunset, he had added yet another ten treasure chests to his inventory.

Including the previous ones, he had gained sixteen treasure chests on this second day.

Lin Yue stretched his slightly sore neck and climbed onto the rooftop again using a ladder.

The blood-red sunset turned the desert into a deep crimson.

Whether time passed fast or slow, Lin Yue couldn't figure it out.

He felt he had become more proficient with the spear, and he had gained considerable experience in efficiently and swiftly killing those small bugs and lizards.

What he lacked now was an Iron Treasure Chest like the one he had obtained yesterday.

Or even the Copper Treasure Chest from which Zheng Jing had obtained a small Soilless Cultivation Kit!

However, during the day, he hadn't seen any giant locusts like yesterday. Lin Yue thought that their appearance should be related to what the survival guide mentioned, associated with "night."

Mutated creatures were more active, agitated, and dangerous at night.

Like those giant locusts, they would be more easily encountered at night.

As the light dimmed, Lin Yue watched everything in the wilderness with full concentration.

Meanwhile, he listened keenly to the sounds gradually rising in the distance.

He was resolute; if it really came, and it was a giant locust like yesterday, he'd go down for a fight.

But if it looked like a tiger, lion, or bear, he'd dive into the shelter.

Yet, if it really were those, hiding in the shelter might be useless.

A black shadow slowly approached in this direction.

Lin Yue immediately noticed this long-awaited uninvited guest, taking a deep breath while looking down at it drawing closer to the Shelter.

The faint glow of the sunset revealed the mutated creature just ten meters away from Lin Yue, exposing its true appearance.

"Wait, is that a sheep?"

Curved horns, a body full of fluffy gray-white fur, and a look almost identical to its counterparts on Earth... What else could it be but a sheep?

Lin Yue didn't immediately climb down from the rooftop.

Having been familiar with this world for nearly two days, he knew that this sheep, which appeared almost exactly like one from Earth, might not be what it seemed.

After waiting a while, he noticed that the sheep, seemingly oblivious to him, went straight toward the back of the house.

When Lin Yue turned to look, he suddenly caught a whiff of a foul smell from that area.

Soon, he saw it relieving itself at the spot where he had found a pile of feces in the morning.

Goodness, you came all the way here to do your business?

Wait a minute, that was clearly carnivorous animal feces...

Pinching his nose, he keenly observed the sheep, which was much larger than he remembered.

Wait, those teeth... tusks!

Goodness, it's a tusked sheep.

So that pile of feces earlier was indeed its doing.

Lin Yue gripped the Iron Spear and took a deep breath.

Should he take it down?

Or just let it leave?

Was it truly dangerous?

However, just as Lin Yue hesitated, after finishing its business, the creature began rubbing against Lin Yue's wooden house.

Soon, the clean outer layer of the wooden house had acquired some distinct colors.

Lin Yue had a face akin to an old man on the subway watching a smartphone.

Nonetheless, he slowly moved over, aimed at the still oblivious sheep, and hurled the Iron Spear!

The Iron Spear pierced through the sheep's neck, and as it shot through, the creature let out a horrifying roar!

This roar sounded familiar?

Watching as the sheep with an Iron Spear lodged in its neck kept roaring while sprinting and leaping, sometimes slamming violently into his shelter, Lin Yue pondered.

The roar from earlier in the day was the sound of this creature!

Was this such a terrifying mutated beast?

The steps of the tusked sheep gradually grew erratic, and after the last bit of sunlight disappeared, it collapsed on the ground, panting heavily.

Lin Yue climbed down from the ladder, with an Iron Axe in hand.

It wasn't any less sharp than the Iron Spear.

He tilted the ladder, repeatedly nudging it with the ladder head.

Not even a hint of resistance.

He moved in closer, two or three meters away, and then hurled the axe after aiming.

The Iron Axe flew out, blood splattering!
