The moment Harry stepped back into the Slytherin common room he knew something was different. The atmosphere had changed, and even more apparent were the changes to the room itself.
It was as if a split had occurred down the middle, chairs and tables moved to one side or the other, groups of students eyeing each other with suspicion, hushed whispers and accusatory glares were everywhere.
He tried to ignore it, the foreboding deep in his chest, and went about his unpacking and resumption of classes as planned. The situation did not change, however, if anything it became worse as the week continued.
Finally, he began to identify the pattern. It looked as if a large group of Slytherins were beginning to favor Snape more than Riddle in terms of both scholarly assistance and even just physical proximity. Those who did weren't openly hostile, but they were certainly unfriendly towards both him, not a huge surprise, and those who continued to act as if nothing were wrong.
When he brought up the question, as subtly as possible, both Crabbe and Goyle shifted about in discomfort before making various excuses and departing the room.
It meant that the hostility wasn't just towards him, but also it seemed to include him as well. Was it something to do with the party over the break? It didn't make much sense that so much animosity had formed in such a short time, but it was the only thing he could think of.

"How was sleeping with Riddle?"
Harriet flinched at her sister's accusation, along with the narrowing of Harry's eyes. This wasn't how the conversation was supposed to go, wasn't how they had discussed, wasn't a good idea.
"Great" he bit back, earning a widening of the redhead's eyes in realization that maybe she should have phrased the question a bit differently. "How was spending time with your parents and family?"
Before she could reply, the calmest of the three interrupted, "I'm sorry Harry, we didn't mean it like that, we are both just a bit upset that you had to go with Professor Riddle instead of spending the entire break with us. Isn't that right Amy?"
It was about as blunt as she could manage, but it was required and her sister quickly nodded, "Y-yeah, yeah of course… sorry I didn't mean to upset you."
The apologies had their desired effect, and their brother, other half, male equivalent, whatever he was and more, noticeably relaxed, "Yeah, no its okay, sorry I shouldn't have answered like that. I just…" he trailed off, frustration building once more as he remembered everything that had changed in such a short amount of time. "I don't know what any of this means. My experience with girls and relationships prior to the break was a few moments of kissing and that's it. Now I'm trying to figure out what Riddle and I are, what us three are, then there are all these other people who seem to know and I just…"
He wasn't going to break down and cry or anything, and if so, it would be due to stress and anxiety rather than anything else. Still, it was just one more thing on his plate and the weight was starting to feel a bit overwhelming.
"Harry…" the raven-haired girl gently interrupted, "We didn't… upsetting you was the last thing we wanted from… I mean…"
She looked to her redheaded sister, who cleared her throat. "We wanted your first time to be with someone closer to your age, someone who cared about you, so it wasn't just some transaction." Amy promptly flinched at how he flinched. "N-not that whatever you and Riddle did was just business or anything I mean, maybe it was…"
Shite, they were all messed up now.
"What we mean is, there aren't any expectations from us Harry. I mean we weren't sure if there would be any from you either, but siblings don't exactly date and…" She shifted in place, knowing how much worse she was making everything sound. It felt like such a long time ago, years even, and it was a stupid mistake made in childhood.
Everything seemed easier just a week prior, simpler. Sex with Harry was just sex with Harry. They weren't thinking about feelings or dating or how it would change anything, everything. It was a desire to have him feel cared for, loved, and yes there was a healthy, obscene, amount of hormones mixed in but that was normal… right?
"We aren't upset." Amaryllis finally said, determination mixing with uncertainty in her voice. "It isn't like you can't see other girls or do… whatever with them. If you don't want to do this kind of stuff with us again, we understand, you don't have to do them with anyone you don't want."
Harry finally nodded, looking just as confused as they felt, "Right… sure. Just, normal siblings for now?"
The girls nodded, ignoring the sharpness in their chests. "And who knows, maybe this is just normal for families? I mean Marie seemed upset you weren't there on New Years so she might be interested too."
Amy meant it as a joke, an attempt to lighten the mood, instead it earned a wide-eyed look from him as she bit back a curse aimed at her own inability to think comments through before making them.
