Damien and Mira made their way through a decaying industrial district at dusk, drawn by rumors of a lab where the undead were allegedly manufactured. Concrete walls, marked with rust and bullet holes, stretched into the distance. Silence hung heavy in the air, a stark contrast to the chaos and groans of the undead that had pursued them earlier.
Damien paused, a flicker of doubt crossing his face. "This place has death written all over it," he muttered, fingers tightening on the hilt of his weapon.
Mira, always keenly aware of his moods, shot him a steadying glance. "Then it's exactly where we need to be." Her eyes sparkled with determination, though her smile softened as she looked at him. "Besides, who better to survive this place than us?"

Suddenly, an alarm blared. Red lights flashed, illuminating the room with an ominous glow. The clicking sound intensified, now echoing from the walls as a door slid open at the far end of the chamber. Out strode a scientist in a blood-streaked lab coat, his eyes cold as he examined them.
"Ah, the legendary Damien Rook," the scientist sneered, adjusting his glasses. "Here to play hero?"
"I'm here to put an end to your twisted work," Damien shot back, stepping forward.
The scientist chuckled, snapping his fingers. The glass chambers cracked open, releasing the figures from their containment. They were larger, stronger than any undead Damien had faced—hybrids, a ghastly blend of machine and flesh.
Mira grabbed Damien's arm, pulling him back as the hybrids advanced. "We need a plan," she hissed, her gaze flitting between the monsters and their creator.
Damien's mind raced, remembering the experimental tech he'd seen in the earlier rooms. "I'll distract them. You find a way to overload the system."
