HOTD! Busujima’s Step Brother Chapter 99

It had a small trunk on the side, only large enough to store some things. When I opened, I found some sealed crackers and a bottle of mineral water. Perfect.

"I might be lucky." I said to myself and grinned, feeling a bit of joy.

Then, I heard a rustling sound coming from somewhere in the alley, followed by a low moan.

I immediately raised my rifle and turned around.

Two zombies, male and female, came walking toward me from around the corner, both were wearing a police uniform. The man had a broken leg and the woman's right arm was missing.

Seeing they were just normal ones, I decided not to think about it and revved the engine. The sound was loud enough to be heard from the radius of 1 KM or more. I knew I would attract other zombies if I didn't move soon.

My bike already moved forward while the two zombies were still far from me. The tire screeched on the ground, creating a black skidmark.

The engine rumbled as the bike accelerated.

I moved swiftly through the small city with a loud noise from my bike.

Some zombies were walking toward me, attracted by the sound of the engine and their growling moans were louder than usual. But they were too slow for me and I just ignored them.

A few minutes of riding through the small town and I found a road leading out of it, into another highway. However, the road was blocked by an overturned trailer and some wrecked cars, creating a barricade.

Without much choice I chose the dirt road that led to a nearby hill. I didn't want to turn around because it would take too long to circle back. And the longer I waited, the more zombies I would meet.

While riding my bike, I was thinking about the things that I needed to do.

Find an underground lab in Raccoon City and destroy it if possible.

The fact Racoon City still stood meant Wesker hadn't injected whatever virus that mutated Birkins yet. But the fact the T-Virus leaked meant he was ready to make a mess in here.

The question is, how could I destroy an entire lab by myself?

Easy. I got the system Shop. And I was going to blow that place into smitherness.

As long as I stop Wesker from getting the virus he used to get stronger and gain an almost immortal life. Either that or he already injected himself with the virus at this point, I forgot.

Anyway, I should buy a rocket launcher if I need it. It would help a lot.

Also, I shouldn't forget about the cult in this world. Resident Evil World was full of it to the point I could go crazy just by thinking about it.

Riding on a dirt road wasn't easy, but it was manageable. My bike's suspension worked pretty well and the ground wasn't too bumpy.

It was an easy drive.

A few zombies were wandering around, looking for something to eat or kill. They paid no attention to me and continued walking.

And then I saw a tall windmill ahead. It seemed like a barn, with a big wind turbine on the top and a small shack next to it. I could see a sign saying 'Tom Place' near the entrance.

This place must've been abandoned after the outbreak. What a shame. The corn was almost ripe and it looked good enough to eat.

After I ensured my safety we could stay here, away from the military's radar. It wasn't a bad idea and the place looked pretty secure.

'Let's stop a little.'

I had all the time in the world, after all.

I stopped the bike in front of the barn, checking for any signs of life. The place looked quiet and peaceful. No sounds of zombies or anything else. Just the sound of wind blowing through the fields and a gentle rustling sound.

Just as I thought, there wasn't anyone around.

The home looked pretty tidy and the field seemed to be in a good condition, although it was obvious that no one had worked on it recently.

I went into the barn and checked the inside. The barn was clean but the animals were all gone. The fence was broken, probably kicked by the animal when they ran around, panicked by the zombie.

There was a lot of hay on the ground and a big stack of wooden crates at one corner.

A ladder was also attached to a wall, leading to an attic where I found some sacks of grain and a couple of buckets filled with dirty water.

No matter how you looked at it, the owner probably already left a long time ago. But there was something strange about all of this.

'There are some footprints left in the dust.'

Someone was living here recently. And not only one or two, but many people.

I took a closer look at the footprints and found that some were bigger than the others. Some even had a boot mark, while some had sneakers.

And I didn't think the latter belonged to the owner because it looked relatively new. The boots might belong to the owner but not the sneakers.

'Should I check around or should I just leave?'

Both options were available for me. But not for long.

A generous reward was given for the third choice.

Just like usual, the higher the reward the higher the risk. This unreliable choice system had a history of giving me choices that were full of shit and lies, so it's better for me to pick the safe one.

And it's also a fact that this system liked to tease me because it knew what I wanted to do.

"I will stay for the night."

I was willing to take the risk now because I was too close to buying zombie serum.

I needed it for assurance if Wesker suddenly decided to eradicate me.
