"Who said I like the sofa? I meant ’sit’ as in sitting down, not ’do it’ as in making love."
"If you don’t like the sofa, where do you prefer then?"
"I like..." She stopped mid-sentence, then snapped, "None of your business! Get out, I want to sleep!"
"I don’t have a habit of sleeping on sofas."
"I don’t care! Right now, I’m the client!"
"Since you put it that way..." Kris Cooper spread his hands. "Take it off. I don’t make a habit of letting clients wear my clothes."
Vera Wave glanced down at the bathrobe she was wearing and quickly clutched its lapels tightly.
"Give me back my clothes first."
Kris Cooper stood up, walked to the corner of the room, and fished something out of the laundry hamper, dangling it in mid-air with one finger.
Seeing her own bra hooked on his finger, Vera’s face instantly burned red.
Kris Cooper raised his hand and tossed the bra to her.
She hurriedly reached out to catch it. Seeing him still standing there, she fumed.
"Are you saying you want my help?"
Vera’s chest heaved in exasperation. "Fine! I’ll sleep on the sofa, and you sleep on the bed. How about that?"
"I only have one blanket."
"You’re so damn poor!"
"That’s because a certain someone hasn’t paid back their debt!"
"This won’t work, that won’t work! Are you insisting on sleeping with me?"
"You’re the one who booked me for the night, not the other way around."
"Alright, ’booked for the night,’ right? ’Service,’ right?!" Vera tossed her bra aside and flopped face-down in the middle of the large bed. "Come here and give me a massage!"
He wanted to offer service, didn’t he? Today, she’d let him *really* serve her!
She wasn’t sure if it was due to fatigue these past few days, but her neck was incredibly stiff. This was the perfect opportunity to make him ’serve’ her.
He walked over and sat down beside her. Kris Cooper carefully brushed her long hair aside. His large, warm hands landed on her slender nape, kneading gently but firmly.
The warmth and perfectly applied pressure made Vera sigh in enjoyment.
"I wouldn’t have guessed your technique is quite professional, huh?"
"Have other guys massaged you before?"
"No, I always go to female therapists."
Why would she, a young girl, like being touched all over by men?
"Your resume says you took a year off before high school. Why was that?"
"Why should I tell you?"
"I’m your boss. I have the right to know about your educational background. What if you did something illegal back then?"
Vera, with her back still to him, pouted. "I was in a car accident back then and almost died, so I stayed home to recover for a year. Is that a problem?"
A car accident? Then why did her medical records only show minor injuries? If it truly was a car accident, why was she taking medication for Depression? Was she lying, or was there something more to it?
"Dad said I damaged my brain in the crash and don’t remember anything from back then."
Kris Cooper’s heart skipped a beat. The pressure from his hands unconsciously increased, and she immediately cried out.
"Damn it, Kris Cooper! Are you trying to massage me to death?!"
Kris Cooper lifted his hands, his brow furrowed as he looked at the now drowsy Vera.
Could it be... she really lost her memory?! No wonder she looked at him like a stranger, as if he had never existed in her world. No wonder she hadn’t tried to find him again. So... that was why.
