Inside the Honglin High School Female Dormitory, there was the sound of something sharp scratching against the wall. Lying disheartened on his bed, Tang Ye stared vacantly at the ceiling. On the wall were three crookedly written characters: "Ning Yu’er". She was gone, and Tang Ye suddenly felt unaccustomed. He was not awoken by her noise, but rather by the beeping sound of his wristwatch.
Her lingering body scent remained on the bed. Tang Ye sniffed it, but that was not enough. He rolled up his sleeve. His wrist still had the pink hair tie that she gave him yesterday, it was probably something she used to tie her hair.
He sniffed vigorously, trying to inhale the scent on it, but he always felt irritated and unable to shake off this depressing feeling.
"Enough with the wallowing", Tang Ye rose from his bed, left the dormitory, and stepped outside. No longer could he hear the phrase: Little Mister, where are you going?
Tang Ye turned around, and there was still no one behind him. Feeling disappointed, he turned back, left the dormitory building, closed the door, and stepped into the sunny outdoors.
Wandering around the Honglin campus out of boredom, Tang Ye happened upon a pack of cigarettes on the ground. He picked it up, there were six cigarettes left inside.
Supposedly, smoking can relieve sorrow, but I wonder if it works on zombies?
After searching around, he managed to find a lighter on a zombie. Before the Apocalypse, Tang Ye didn’t smoke. He found the smell of cigarettes repugnant. Once, a small-time gangster named Brother Long offered him a cigarette. He took a puff, and it made him choke till his eyes teared up.
He believed that smoking was bad for his health, but now, being a zombie, did it even matter?
Under the sun, he sat on a step, put a cigarette in his mouth like others do, and lit it up, then took a hard puff.
He heard someone say that to truly smoke a cigarette, you have to inhale the smoke into your stomach, otherwise, it’s just a spit cigarette...is that correct?
Tang Ye took a puff, forcibly swallowing the smoke into his stomach. Then, two streams of smoke wafted out of his nostrils, and were gone.
Perhaps due to his transformation into a zombie, and the changes in his body, Tang Ye didn’t feel a choking sensation, only a slight dizziness.
"Is this what smoking feels like? It doesn’t seem like much," Tang Ye murmured in a hoarse voice.
The dizzy feeling in his head seemed to help him forget his worries. The sunlight illuminated the swirls of smoke wrapping around him, creating a hazy scene.
Just then, the zombies on the field collectively let out a roar. Tang Ye looked up in confusion.
He stood up and walked towards the field, the zombies’ excited roars and agonized howls were deafening.
When Tang Ye arrived at the cobblestone path, he saw from afar, zombies on the field going berserk as a whole, forming a wave of black bodies rushing towards an outsider!
Tang Ye squinted and saw that in the direction of the zombie rush stood a man, a handsome middle-aged man with a graceful demeanor.
That middle-aged man looked at the sea of zombies in front of him, unhurried and composed, he actually walked towards the horde of zombies. Tang Ye watched, puzzled.
"Is he trying to get himself killed?"
Just as Tang Ye was puzzled by Ning Tianlang’s actions, there came a swift movement from the man. He clenched his fists and landed a punch on the head of a zombie that came near him, and in no time, that zombie’s head exploded!
Ning Tianlang’s fists flew like the wind, killing one zombie after another. It seemed that the fists were not very convenient, he quickly took out the machete from his back, discarded the sheath, and the blade flashed like moonlight as it swiftly decapitated zombie after zombie.
This scene left Tang Ye stupefied.
"A human can be this powerful? Has he also evolved?"
While Tang Ye was enjoying the spectacle, a scene straight out of a sci-fi movie took place. Ning Tianlang quickly pressed a button on his belt, layers of streamlined armor with an air of advanced technology unfolded on his body. Ning Tianlang discarded the machete in his hand and started attacking with his fists!
When the armor was fully formed, two dark silver reflective blades sprang out from each of his forearms. Ning Tianlang’s attacks on the zombies became even more ferocious, no zombie was a match for him! By the time they got close to him, they no longer had heads!
Tang Ye felt that he should offer some assistance to those zombies. But seeing that every time a zombie’s claws came into contact with that middle-aged man’s armor, they couldn’t even leave a scratch but were instead shattered first!
The zombies on the field were growing more and more frenzied, completely surrounding Ning Tianlang. One after another, they fearlessly threw themselves at him, clinging to him, trying to use their sheer numbers to build a mountain of corpses, then crush him to death!
But every time a zombie threw itself onto him, Ning Tianlang would make a 360-degree turn to fling them off, then continue slashing at the zombies with his blades.
He had the momentum to cut from Tsim Sha Tsui to Causeway Bay!
As time passed, more and more corpses piled up around Ning Tianlang, even more than the pile of corpses that Tang Ye had left at the school gate! But, Ning Tianlang, as if he didn’t grow tired, continued to wield his blades!
Finally, after killing the last zombie, Ning Tianlang, exhausted, bent over to catch his breath. He stepped out of the pile of corpses and locked eyes with Tang Ye. Ning Tianlang’s face tensed up, the distance between them was not too far, and upon seeing Tang Ye’s size, he was almost certain that he was a zombie!
"Hehe, quite formidable!" Tang Ye spoke in his hoarse, unpleasant voice. Then he turned to leave, a zombie rushed right past him, bypassing Tang Ye and charging straight at Ning Tianlang!
Seeing Tang Ye’s retreating figure, Ning Tianlang’s eyebrows furrowed, his eyes filled with confusion. He was frowning because Tang Ye’s voice was so unpleasant, it felt like being tickled by a feather when he heard it, so uncomfortable. And he was confused as to why the zombie didn’t attack Tang Ye?
Tang Ye didn’t attack, and he even spoke. This made Tang Ye seem more like a human in Ning Tianlang’s eyes, but why wouldn’t the zombies attack a human?
With a swing of his blade, he decapitated the zombie charging straight at him, then sprinted forward to chase Tang Ye.
He wanted to figure out how Tang Ye did it? Why wouldn’t the zombies attack him?
But before he could chase for long, he saw Tang Ye suddenly turn into a black shadow and disappear from his sight. Ning Tianlang was stunned.
Ning Tianlang: "?????"
He cursed under his breath, wanting to use the flight boosters on his armor to pursue, but he was afraid he wouldn’t have enough energy for the return journey. For now, he had to find his daughter first. He didn’t know if she was dead or alive, but even if she had turned into a zombie, he had to see her!
