I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World Chapter 889

The man, whose clothes were smeared with paint, received the scale armor but then made a strange move. He peeled off each scale and stuffed them into his pocket. His hands moved incredibly fast, nearly blurring, and his actions were exceptionally proficient—it was clear he had done this many times before.

Judging by his speed, this was obviously no ordinary person, Tang Ye furrowed his brows.

This man was no ordinary human! Old humans couldn’t possibly have such fast hands, there was only one possibility, he was a New Human! However, what was strange was that the man’s aura was pitifully weak, clearly indicating he had consumed some sort of inhibitor.

The vendor, who had eagerly opened the bag handed over by the man, shook out all of the Yajin, counting a total of fifty-four pieces!

Delighted, almost instinctively, he quickly gathered all the Yajin, turned his head to see if anyone had noticed him, but unfortunately, the surrounding vendors were staring intensely at him!

There were looks of envy, jealousy, and even some that faintly carried murderous intent!

The vendor felt a chill in his heart but, being a New Human himself, he steeled his resolve!

"Damn it, set up—I’ll kill whoever dares to target me next!"

The vendor was no pushover himself, his eyes flashing fiercely. In this era, having too much wealth was not a good thing, especially when you lacked the ability to protect it.

Now, he had decided not to go home. He would find a place with a Peace Party Army station and stay there for a few days. Murder was strictly prohibited in the United District, but that only applied where Peace Party soldiers did not witness it; countless people died in shadowy corners out of vendetta.

As long as he stayed where Peace Party soldiers were present, no one would dare to cause trouble. If someone committed murder in front of them, the murderer would have no good ending, and Peace Party soldiers never reasoned—once they discovered a crime, there was no arrest or jail, just an execution on the spot!

They were demons but also protectors offering the greatest sense of security to the weak.

The vendor calmed down, holding the fifty-four Yajin in his lap, and glanced at the man with paint-smeared clothes, wrestling with his thoughts.

The transaction with so much Yajin was a huge profit, he wished the man had given even more. After thinking for a while, for safety’s sake, he shouted to the man, "Hey brother, you gave too much."

The man with paint on his clothes looked back at him, his face hidden by a baseball cap, expression unreadable. After two or three seconds, he finally spoke, his voice strangely eerie.

"No need for change."

"Uh..." the vendor was taken aback, not immediately grasping it.

"Oh, alright then."

Saying this, the vendor sat down. Such generosity was indeed rare.

Afterward, the man didn’t say anything more. He casually threw the now bare zombie skin on the ground and walked towards Tang Ye.

As the distance between them closed, Tang Ye’s gaze stayed intently on the man. From the first moment he saw this person, Tang Ye felt an indescribable sense of danger.

This could only mean that this guy was a danger to himself!

What was that creature? He himself was a Level 7 zombie. What existence could still pose a threat to him?

Not only Tang Ye had this feeling, the man across in the duckbill cap also sensed it. As he drew closer to Tang Ye, his body gradually bent down, just like a leopard adopting a combat stance when facing a formidable opponent.

However, for some reason, when he was just two or three meters away from Tang Ye, he suddenly straightened up his body and, step by step, solidly passed by Tang Ye.

Tang Ye’s gaze followed the movement of the man, staring intently at his face. As he passed by Tang Ye, the other also turned his head; his eyes were not visible, but Tang Ye knew he was being observed as well!

Eventually, as their figures shifted apart, both were unharmed; however, right next to Song Muyuan, the man suddenly stopped.

When he halted, Tang Ye also stiffened, and Song Muyuan, sensing something was amiss, also began to feel nervous. He smelled a strong, very intense scent of blood mixed with an equally strong smell of paint.

Song Muyuan noticed that the man’s clothes had a lot of paint on them, mostly covered in purple and blue patches though various other colors were present as well, just like a decorator. However, among these colors, red was the most prominent.

The stench of blood, both Song Muyuan and Tang Ye understood, some of the red on the man’s clothes was probably not paint, but blood!

He had murdered someone!

And he had murdered many! If not many, then his method of killing had been extremely brutal!

Zombies have a keen sense of smell. The rich scent of blood only meant one thing—it was fresh; if the killing had happened elsewhere, the scent of blood would not have been so intense!

’Your Excellency, killing someone on my turf, isn’t that a bit hard to justify? I remember clearly stating the rules here: murder is not allowed within the United District!’

Tang Ye spoke coldly; during his speech, a murderous aura was released, overwhelmingly pressing towards the man with the duckbill cap. The neo-humans around, sensing something amiss, hurriedly scattered. Even the street vendors quicky packed up some rare items in a panic and hurriedly left the area, leaving the other ordinary people to follow the massive escape.

Having survived this long in a post-apocalyptic world, the old humans could not feel what the neo-humans could, but that did not prevent them from observing the actions of the neo-humans.

In no time, there was no one left around Tang Ye’s group.

Ignoring his words, the man with the duckbill cap leaned closer to Song Muyuan, sniffing strongly, then became silent. After four or five seconds, he suddenly spoke, "Why do you smell of a zombie, almost like you’re not human."

His words made Tang Ye’s eyes flicker. Although Song Muyuan was disguised as a human, he still carried the decayed scent typical of zombies. Moreover, he did not possess the abilities of Tang Ye or Ah Fu to disguise himself with the scent of a living being, hence, to the perception of the neo-humans, they appeared as lifeless corpses that just happened to move.

Speaking of which, the man with the duckbill cap reached out towards Song Muyuan, and his skin was icy cold, devoid of any warmth.

’Heh...’

With a low chuckle, the man with the duckbill cap withdrew his hand, his eyes mocking, yet unseen.

His actions enraged Song Muyuan in his heart, but he could not speak, only able to emit a low growl. He was about to roar but was stopped by Tang Ye.

’Am I to take it that you did not take me seriously?’
